Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

I didn't take it that way. Coming to a school, regardless of who else is already there, is exactly what TP did. I think that he was just saying that Denard would've gone to Michigan regardless.

Hmmm... if I recall correctly Denard was a signing day surprise for tsun, no? It wasn't exactly like he was a lock. It makes things seem as though he was a lock from the point at which he rec'd his offer.

I could be wrong, but if TP was at tsun, I don't think that Denard would have sniffed an offer from RR. They had their QB in 4CA in that class.

IIRC the cupboard was completely bare (go figure) and it was all or nothing at QB for Rich Rod in regards to Pryor.

He obviously got nothing and started his scUM coaching career with this hanging over his head at QB;

That's fine. I don't follow recruiting very much, and had no idea who Denard was until he played his first game at Michigan...let alone when he signed with them. I still didn't see where the backhand to TP happened. Saying that the good ones go regardless of who's already there is exactly what TP did.

Ken Gordon agreed with a tweet from Tom Dienhart today on twitter stating they believe Saturday will be Rich Rod's final game at Michigan (assuming they lose, I assume). I actually think that conflicts from what I read from a lot of the fanbase. Brian at _GoBlog seems just depressed by the situation in his latest post about it, but before that I would have guessed he expects Rich Rod to be handed another year. The polls at _GoBlog and one of the Detroit newspapers didn't seem to indicate that the fanbase was completely ready to be done with him. National writers such as Ivan Maisel have guessed he should be able to stay and just get a new coordinator.

So then if Ohio State is up big in the 4th (Let's hope), does the sign "One more year Rich!" appear? And is that a good thing. If tsun is embarrassed Saturday, does that end Rich's tenure? If so, I'll have fond fond memories Rich. Thank you.

I get the sense that the Illinois win bought him another year (as fucked up as that sounds). In my IMO it comes down to how The Game actually plays out. If he gives them any reason for hope, they will grasp it.

If he gets another 42-7 kind of beat down laid on him I think they'll still delay the decision to the Bowl game. They can probably acquit themselves fairly well against a mediocre Bowl opponent, if they get a game way over their head just for the fanbase they bring then our chances of keeping him probably take a hit.

So long story short I think the answer is, "it depends".

That's kinda of what I've thought too, that it still depends, but Gordon and Diehart were not the first respectable source I've read on this to say the opposite. I can't remember who the other is or where I read it.

I do think a decision will be made before the Bowl game. I know it will be a fairly early bowl, but if you fire a guy and it takes 2 weeks to hire a guy then you're really behind the recruiting ball. I also think that to get Harbaugh they will have to make a move before the NFL season ends. I've kinda thought for weeks we were getting at least one more year, but there's been some backlash to that sentiment.

If he is fired, I believe it will be asap. They will want to get everything ready for a run at Harbaugh...and I won't be surprised to see him leave Stanford before the bowl. If he is making the move, he will want to jump on recruiting and get the bowl preps as evaluation time.

If it isn't Harbabugh, it could be an ugly drawn out mess...anyone coming in knows it will take 3-4 years just to rebuild a semblance of depth.

I've heard some NFL guys say they think Harbaugh will end up in the NFL before too long. There's going to be about six jobs open this year, do you think he bypasses the NFL to try and rebuild Michigan?
