My post on Michigan Scout:
Michigan Wolverines didn't keep workout logs, school says - ESPN
It is
potentially trouble for Michigan. When Oklahoma's Rhett Bomar had his no-show job, the thing that sunk the Sooners was that they had failed to collect and process the university-required employment forms from the student-athletes. This failure led to a failure to monitor charge against the institution.
What makes it
potentially worse for Michigan is that, whereas Bomar's violation was an individual violation, the underlying
alleged violation here is an institutional violation. Thus, whereas Bomar's violation plus Oklahoma's record-keeping failure led to a failure to monitor charge, Michigan's
alleged institutional violation plus Michigan's record-keeping failure
might warrant a more serios lack of institutional control charge.
Of course, still a long way to go in the investigation, so we really don't have nearly enough facts to know what temperature the water is.
