Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

If you're Mary Sue Coleman, do you want an infraction within the football program so you can clean house now and get rid of Martin and Rich Rod?

Yes. This guy is not what they want and he is not good for TSUN or the Big Ten. The AD retires, sweep it clean.

My post on Michigan Scout:

Michigan Wolverines didn't keep workout logs, school says - ESPN

It is potentially trouble for Michigan. When Oklahoma's Rhett Bomar had his no-show job, the thing that sunk the Sooners was that they had failed to collect and process the university-required employment forms from the student-athletes. This failure led to a failure to monitor charge against the institution.

What makes it potentially worse for Michigan is that, whereas Bomar's violation was an individual violation, the underlying alleged violation here is an institutional violation. Thus, whereas Bomar's violation plus Oklahoma's record-keeping failure led to a failure to monitor charge, Michigan's alleged institutional violation plus Michigan's record-keeping failure might warrant a more serios lack of institutional control charge.

Of course, still a long way to go in the investigation, so we really don't have nearly enough facts to know what temperature the water is.

Does it also suggest the possibility of a cover-up of training that systematically violated NCAA rules?

I am thinking of the stink at WVa when RichRod departed with their detailed training records or copies thereof. Wasn't the point back then that Barwis had this scientific approach with lots of record-keeping?

Right on the heels of this, Michael Wilbon has apparently said he has it on good authority that both jabba and dickrod are out after this season. Obviously, it's all speculation, but the timing is pretty interesting. Is there a corralation? Who knows, but dickrods ass has to be searing right now.

Question

When RR gets the boot does he end up at another high level FBS school or does he end up at a lower tier program?

Jokes aside - I know scUM is a lowe tier program right now and that it would be hard to go any lower. What that aside, what thinks ye?

I think he'll take his gimmick offense to somewhere like the Sun Belt and win a lot...just like June Jones does at Hawaii/SMU (well, a little this year at SMU, anyway). But you won't see June Jones at an elite BCS school, and I don't think you'll see DickRod at one again either.

Agree that he's not cut out for "elite" BCS school, but I could see him having some success at a NC State sort of program.

In all seriousness, if he gets fired for NCAA violations at TSUN, he is in a world of hurt. Didn't they advance a bunch of money to buy out his contract? He probably leaves in debt. He is involved in the court action involving that real estate investment. His reputation is trashed and he looks like a one-trick pony, with his one-trick increasingly not a trick and his pony gelded.

Sucks to be RichRod if he gets fired.

Agreed, but that's why I think he might end up in the Sun Belt. If Charlie Weatherbie can coach out his career there, then I bet DickRod could end up at LA Monroe, North Texas, or Arkansas State.

If he gets an NCAA violation, that will affect him quite badly both in terms of the level of program willing to hire him and his salary. Like OCBucksFan said, karma. Folks in WVa must be plutzing themselves.

Mind you, on the one-trick pony thing, I'm thinking that RichRod probably is quite fond of ponies...

Rich Rod was/is/and always will be in over his head at a Michigan. Shit, for all the smoke and mirrors he routinely choked away the big games (South Florida, Pitt) while he was at WVU.

Georgia not taking his shit seriously for the first 20 minutes of a Sugar Bowl is what caused all this.

Rich Rod's scheme could turn a program like Memphis into a monster, however.

Remember though, if he's found guilty of a major infraction, he could face a one or two-year suspension from coaching any NCAA program. He may have to latch on to some NFL assistant gig or take a job at a community college for a year or two and then come back in 2011 or later.
