Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

But I think an important factor in determining whether to keep or let go of a coach is his trend.
So do I. When I said, "vague minimum standards of competitiveness and/or improvement", I meant improvement within the first couple of years of the new coach's tenure, not improvement compared to the previous coach's record.

To claim any sort of "improvement" RR HAS to beat Purdue this week (the last of his low hanging fruit), pull an upset at Wisky or against us.

Last year at this point in the schedule they beat a 7-2 Minnesota team by 23 points at Minnesota to end a 5 game skid. Finishing 0-7 (throwing out Del St) points to a program headed in a serious wrong direction regardless of the fullness of cupboards or abilities of S&C coaches.

Even if they beat Purdue any improvement is marginal. Win two out of three and he can make a case.

They go 0fer in these last three games. They are mental midgets right now and are going to fold at the first sign of adversity. John Clay might go for 250 against that defense.

That said, I think I've seen it mentioned once or twice, but think about what Rodriguez is doing with each recruiting cycle. IF he was going to be around for the next ten years then no big deal, but the writing is on the wall if he loses out this year. They will be worse next year with the lack of defensive recruiting. They may be starting over at QB (again) with Devin Gardner.

If he gets canned after next year look at the personnel they have on that team for the next coach. That guy is going to be three years behind on recruiting players that fit HIS system.

This program could be treading water for 4 or 5 more years after this year.

Never thought I'd see the day.

If RichRod had actually bagged a stripper in the midst of this debacle like Mike Price did, scUM fans might have a little more respect for him.

Are we sure he didn't?
