Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

Agree completely. I believe a 10 year extension is in order!!

There just isn't any excuse for firing a coach after only two seasons. You need to let the man develop his system, with his players. You need to let him revise the training regimen to be appropriate for the system and players. You need to let him develop new attitudes, new approaches, and allow him to sweep past failures of the previous coaching regime out the door.

You need to let the Buckeyes have a few more easy wins against his bunch of losers.

Honestly.. It's amusing to think about what kind of condition their program would be in if Brian Kelly was the coach. They would have had a mediocre season last year probably, but still gone to a bowl. And this year.. My guess is we would be at least mildly concerned about the game. They would without a doubt be bowl eligible and a threat to beat anyone they played.

...But he's not their coach. RR (still an ass) is their coach. And they fuckin' suck.
If they hire Brian Kelly, then they keep Mallet. They'd be a pretty serious threat right now if they weren't so stupid.

Illinois quit 3 weeks 5 weeks ago...scUM quit yesterday ..No wonder the AD has been asked to take a hike..Rod could be next!

they may never rebound if they fire him now.

he went in to a program whose roster was built to run Big Ten type offense.
he's trying to run the spread with kids who have never done it before.

gonna take a couple years to get the right guys in the right positions.

if they fire him now, it starts all over again.

you have a roster of guys designed to run the spread, but they'll be running some other type of offense. And will suck at it.

so fire that guy, and the cycle continues.

I think it all depends on what happens with these next 3 games to be honest with you guys (ie 3 blowout losses) and I don't see him getting brought back for another year. You have to pull the plug now before this program gets even further behind imo.

Would you want to be the next coach coming in if you know you have only two years to turn the program around? especially if you are not a spread offense coach?
I don't the UM would can a coach after 2 years no matter who he is. NO, Threee years at least.

bingo, not to mention the buyout. what was it? 6 million with the buyout plus his salary? scum is stuck with him for 4 years imo. but i believe they will start shopping next year. they will take a full year to a year and a half to settle on a replacement. they won't make the same mistake they did with dickrod again for the forseable future. but its still going to take about 5 to 6 years for scum to get back to where they were under vloyd.

Just for our conspiracy theorists, and not necessarily something I believe in, but if the powers that be want RR gone they have an out in the potential allegations.

Typically Universities under the gun fight tooth and nail to shoot that stuff down. But IF you come to believe you have a loser on your hands - and I am not saying UM believes that - you can cooperate with the NCAA in such a way that those allegations are found to be true. Again - speaking conspiratorially - one could envision a back door deal where the NCAA found violations that did not merit serious repercussions but gave UM enough to avoid the 6 mil.

As for the next coach feeling he is under the gun, provided he isn't an ass why should he feel that way? It RR's alienating attitude and approach that has gotten him in trouble almost as much as his W-L record.

Watch the UM AD hire for clues as to how this will play out.
