Never suggested it was, but what did I say that you don't think is true? To think that the game isn't completely different now and the competition isn't 10x tougher than it was 100 years ago is naive. There's thousands of more great players and hundreds of more great coaches than there were back then. Of all people I'd think Florida fans would love to think football was invented in 1990 since they have no national titles before then.:wink2:

Nah man, I agrees which yas. Totally. I only had my paranoid face out because that has been a topic of conversation before, with me taking your position on how hard it is to win today - like an SEC Championship - as opposed to when Bama had 200 players on the travel squad, mostly made up of guys bear recruited just to keep them off the field against him. So I put in the "invented before 1990" in advance of the routine rejoinder. I can see how well that worked with you.

Gotcha, I wasn't quite sure what you were trying to imply with that smiley.:)

...for the dignity and soul of this great rivalry, tsun needs to be competitive. I didn't get as much of a satisfaction from last year's game than any other years.

You obviously weren't alive in 1969. Fuck Michigan. I hope they fall into the two-decade funk of mediocrity they suffered through the early-'50s-late '60s, winning one conference title in 18 seasons. Giving a 42-7 ape-fucking to a 3-9 Michigan team is just as satisfying--no, make that more satisfying--than a 42-39 win over a #2-in-the-country Michigan team.

Are you saying that our victories over you back in the day mean nothing??? try telling that to the guys that played in the games.

I am sure 60 years down the road people will be saying the games played now meant nothing. (they sure mean something to you, I, and everyone else who posts on this site).

Responding to your argument about the level of competition, even so called the old-timers will tell you that players nowadays are stronger AND faster. You would be an idiot to think that the 2 eras are playing on the same level.

I am also not discrediting what the players from the past had accomplished. But, IMO, the victory is harder to come by in today's game.

Or you forgot the Cooper Era, I'm with Mili. I don't care how the victories come, as long as they keep rolling in.

Personally I disagree (granted, I wasn't alive in '69).
Last year, the Michigan fans knew they were going to lose to us. It was a shitty season. They were miserable, but they kept their mind off of it. They focused on next year, and their ultra-muscular, soon-to-be-totally-Barwised Tate Forcier. They got ass-raped by us, but even at the end of that game, they were numbed and just thinking "well, we knew it was coming, next year will be better".

What do I want?
An undefeated season for them in the beginning. Every game bringing them more hope. They think about football when they wake up. They think about it when they eat lunch, they talk about it constantly. They have the winners' glow. They can't stop thinking about The Game and how they're going to win it. They let their hopes get higher than they've ever gotten. They put their heart and soul into it, and then finally-FINALLY- The Game starts. The half ends. They're up by 3 and they're convinced they're going to win. They're jumping up and down for joy all the way until the final few minutes where their hearts get utterly, completely crushed. Their minds are reeling, they can't believe what just hit them--and their depression is inescapable. They have put so much thought and heart into it that there's no getting out. They've talked to much shit that it WILL come back to haunt them.

That's what I want.

Again, the same will be said 60 years from now (or how many ever years you want to use).

I will use a rating system draw comparisons.

If the 1901 Michigan football team was a 70 and they played teams that were 60's and 70's. they played teams of equal and similar levels to themselves at the times.

If the 2008 Ohio State team was a 110 and they played teams that 100's and 110's they played teams of equal and similar levels to themselves.

Retrospectively the teams had less talent then, but keep in mind every team did!

Finally not to mention how far off topic you guys all got. I think we can all admit we are fans of superior programs (so don't talk about the competition being less). I was referring to our head to head series with OSU, not anything else. We lead the all time series, don't neglect our wins.
