I liked (as much as possible) the events in Jacksonville last year, as it will lead the youngsters to a better recognition that the barking, mange-ridden, flea infested leg-humpers are in fact our biggest rivals. Celebrate after your rare as hen's teeth touchdown all you want Coach Mark....you are owned on the won/loss scoreboard by Coach Spurrier, Coach Zook and now Coach Meyer. Celebrate that ass wipe!
Show of hands - how many people thought WVU had no shot in this lawsuit when it was first filed.

U-M to pay $2.5M of Rodriguez buyout
The family feud is over, and the University of Michigan will be paying $2.5 million to buy out Rich Rodriguez's contract with West Virginia University. The school will also pay for legal costs associated with its new head coach's legal battle, while he will pay $1.5 million over three years.
? Rodriguez agrees to pay WVU $4M buyout
? Do you agree with U-M paying majority of buyout?
? Complete Wolverines football coverage
Seriously, everytime I see a picture of him in a jacket I imagine him trying to sell me a 1995 Toyota Tercel.buckeyes_rock;1202202; said:Interesting photo choice indeed. That pic just smells like a weasel. Anyone else looking thoroughly forward to pounding his team into oblivion?

So nice (Sarcasm intended) to see that while the state of Michigan has drastically cut back financial support to Michigan colleges and universities, while fantastic state learning institutions like EMU, WMU, and CMU can't afford classroom/laboratory updates/modernizations, while Michigan colleges and universities are forced again this year to raise tuition, the wonderful University of Michigan finds millions of dollars to pay off a lawsuit of an already troubling, scandle filled former WVU coach. This is once again a powerful example of just where University of Michigan priorities are(football first, learning second or third). I am not sure if that is anything to be relieved over, or proud of.

First of all huron86-if you think that education comes in second or third then you have no clue as to what a degree from THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN means. Secondly, the only troubling, scandle lies have come from wvu. I'll say again No One Ever complained about Coach Rodriguez until he left. As for EMU, WMU, and CMU. Their football program doesn't bring any where near the MILLIONS of dollar's that the Michigan Program bring's in every single home game and not to mention bowl games every single year! As a University of Michigan Alum I can say without a doubt that you have no idea of what you are talking about!

If UM spends $2.5 million, plus legal fees to assist with an obvious unethical contract, then that is proof that UM's priorities are football first, education second. THis is also reflective in the decades of UM "General Studies" programs to assist athletes so they can get by with high GPA's and little to no effort with studies. UM's mottow should be Football first!! Education Second. But, glad you are proud of your school.

Pardon my error. It is a $4 million bailout, plus legal fees (not $2.5 million as previous stated)
um, hi. I'm the college football world. I would like you clue you in on something. OSU hears it everytime they lose to anybody. from me, the rest of the college football world. From who?
If OSU loses, you don't have schoolmates, co-workers, and neighbors rubbing it in your face. Whether you live in Columbus, Cincinnati, or South Africa. Trust me on this: the worst day of any school year is the Monday after a loss to MSU.

The most telling post is the one by feztus. It seems clear that UM tampered with RR before hiring him. Much like Haffs' body odor, this thing stinks to high heaven. I am sure UM will pay the buyout and that they agreed to do so before hiring RR, that is how these things are done. Does anyone really think that RR would have agreed to come to UM with a $4 million dollar buyout hanging over his head?
It is shameful the way the University completely botched the hiring process.
Note to WVU fans, this isn't a total victory, the buyout will be spread out over time and surely includes provisions favorable to RR an the University. All the details have not yet been made public. It is a victory for WVU, no doubt, but not total victory. The loss of a lump sum payment itself reduces the value of the $4 million.

$4 Million
Robon - numbnuts
...and continues to lose in the court of public opinion.Gatorubet;1202254; said:1) Michigan paid for numbnuts's legal fees - which won't be chump change
2) Michigan paid 2.5 million dollars of RichRod's buyout. So Dick Wad is rewarded 2.5 mil for his breaching his contractual word....
3) And D.W. gets to pay his share of the buyout over a period of years, allowing him to keep earning interest/equity on the 1.5 million.
I think he did pretty damn well out of this. He breaks his word and somebody else pays for most of the fallout.
indeed
