Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

I live in Michigan and the MSU vs UM rivalry is much bigger for the MSU fans. But make no mistake, OSU is UM's biggest rival in FOOTBALL....by a wide margin...not even close.

I'll give you the fact that in Basketball, Hockey, and Baseball, MSU is #1 in the rivalry department for UM fans.

While the butt sniffers from Athens are UF's biggest rivals, a less informed younger generation of Gators, used to the annual mutt spanking in Jacksonville in the 90s, have turned to the false belief that FSU is our biggest rival.

I liked (as much as possible) the events in Jacksonville last year, as it will lead the youngsters to a better recognition that the barking, mange-ridden, flea infested leg-humpers are in fact our biggest rivals. Celebrate after your rare as hen's teeth touchdown all you want Coach Mark....you are owned on the won/loss scoreboard by Coach Spurrier, Coach Zook and now Coach Meyer. Celebrate that ass wipe!

So what value did RR receive from all of those billable hours from Mr. Robon and his associates?

I think it can be stated in negative amounts.

Fuckin' lawyers, always giving bad advice and shit.

Except for the WVU lawyers, of course. :wink2:

It's cute how protective you are of this.

Understand this: If we lose to you guys, we don't hear about it anywhere near as much as if we lose to MSU. Beating OSU is sweeter than beating MSU. Losing to MSU is worse than losing to OSU.

P.S. Pretending MSU isn't a rival of ours makes you sound silly.

And I suppose that Appalachian State is really your rival because you heard so much about that loss?

Really, stop this crap. We would hear more about a loss to MSU or Northwestern than a loss to TSUN too. That doesn't make either our rivals.

Ask your team, ask Mike Hart, ask Chad Henne. Look at their quotes after dropping to 0-4 against the Buckeyes. Your boys know exactly who Daddy is.

UM also agreed to pay WVU's legal fees which is very interesting. WVU's lawyers squeezed until it hurt.
No, they didn't:

WVU will be responsible for its own legal bills, which Wakefield said "will be very reasonable."

From who?

If OSU loses, you don't have schoolmates, co-workers, and neighbors rubbing it in your face. Whether you live in Columbus, Cincinnati, or South Africa. Trust me on this: the worst day of any school year is the Monday after a loss to MSU.

This makes no sense.
It makes perfect sense. And I hate to say it but the closest anyone came was Brutus1; although, it's not that we're used to losing to OSU, it's just that they're supposed to beat us every so often. (This shit is getting excessive, however.) MSU is never supposed to beat us. Ever. Last year they were favored and it was a huge deal because we hadn't gone in as the underdogs in something like 20 years - certainly never since Perles left.

You said it yourself; the loss to UGA was bearable because they're the main rival and without it, the essence of the rivalry was slipping away. That's where the U-M/OSU rivalry has its roots: a matchup of equals trying for the same title every year. It's much different with MSU. With them there's obviously the in-state angle, but there's never been anything to play for other than bragging rights. They want to win because they hate us like Red Sox fans hate the Yankees; we want to win because those bastards are obnoxious as hell when they beat us.

There sure is a lot of crowing about SEC bowls lately, as well as a rapid influx of Texas & Florida apparel around town the last few years.

The rapid disappearance of boisterous UM (or just anti-OSU) fans since Tressel took over would shift just as quickly if OSU started losing to MI teams again. It's not cool to dislike OSU anymore.

I definitely know what you're saying, I just can't see myself thinking that way. The team I want to lose to the least is the biggest rival. I don't want to lose to anyone, but if my team (not necessarily the Buckeyes) had one win during the season, I'd want it to be against the biggest rival. I don't give a shit what the little team says who manages to beat us every once in a while. They know who the better team is year-in and year-out.

And there are quite a few OSU haters in Ohio. We hear about losses.
