Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

Honest question, do you believe all that you type, or is this more of the reactionary approach again?

What woods and Jenkins chose to do has little bearing on rr trying to bring the wvu verbals to AA, a concept you scoffed at earlier. Considering rrod told pryor before wvu that he was leaving, you'll have a tough time convincing me that the other two decommitted on their own, especially a perfect slot wr for his offense, of which UM had zero at the time.

Maybe Jenkins would have listened to rrod's revised pitch in December had the original not centered around loyalty and wvu guys staying home.

Oh, and someone let Taylor hill know he's not a wvu verbal (in mid-Dec) turned wolverine... Despite that whole LOI thing.

One, Woods and Jenkins decommitted on their own after the coaching change, as happens all the damn time. Two, that sounds like the same Josh Jenkins that OSU was trying like hell to bring over, so you'll pardon me if I raise an eyebrow when you raise that name. He stated that, "OSU, FSU, and WVU remain my top three choices." If Jenkins committed to Rodriguez and not the program so much (which tends to be the case when guys decommit in the wake of a change) then I somehow think he'd have considered Michigan and not put PSU and Pitt next on the list.

Dick Rod and Associates called up their commits and told them "hey....remember all that awesome stuff about WVU? forget I said that.....Michigan is where it's really at."

Which is exactly what he was pissed off about when Tricket did it.

I'm not usually much good at chess, but I can see this one playing out three or four moves ahead already.

Clearly not.

Otherwise you would have already started the self imposed disapearance that is going to occur when RR inevitably embarasses TSUN and your arguments collapse like a house of cards.

I'll bet you can predict my response to that post before I even say it :wink2:

Well, using the Kubler-Ross (can't get the umlaut to appear in her name) system, my guess is that you are still working your way through Stage 1. So, it would be normal that you would be denying the great loss of dignity that is taking place and block any information to the contrary.

The Kubler-Ross stages are:
  1. Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening."
  2. Anger: "Why me? It's not fair."
  3. Bargaining: "Just let me live to see my children graduate."
  4. Depression: "I'm so sad, why bother with anything?"
  5. Acceptance: "It's going to be OK."
When you reach Stage 2, please remember not to vent that here.

And don't worry, TSUN fan or not, Buckeyes are compassionate people. We'll help you with laughter when you reach the later stages. It's not easy, but, hey, we're just provincial Midwesterners with values honed in a simpler age.

Just got invited to a presentation and reception for...

Mary Sue Coleman has led the University of Michigan since being appointed its president in August 2002. President Coleman is a national spokesperson on the educational value of affirmative action and diverse perspectives in the classroom. Her extensive leadership positions in higher education include having served on the Association of American Universities Executive Committee, the Internet2 Board of Directors, the National Collegiate Athletic Association Board of Directors, and the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. Elected to the Institute of Medicine in 1997, President Coleman is also a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She co-chaired a major policy study of the Institute of Medicine, examining the consequences of uninsurance, and has become a nationally recognised expert on the issue.

I think she would appreciate Big Ten attire so far away from home? What say you?

I think I skipped stages 1 through 4, actually. I'm just trying to bring you guys up to speed and let you know it's going to be OK, too :wink2:

P.S. By all means, wear red to any reception held with Mary Sue Coleman in attendance. It'd be perfectly appropriate as she is a damn commie.

Wear your "Fuck Michigan" T-shirt...

Of course, I have a selection of Ohio State ties, Fisher College ties and various Buckeye cuff links, etc. Gotta make sure the Dean gets kitted out too.

Actually, it might be more impressive if one of our guys who works with them put on a TSUN tie and then whispered that he has not been so concerned about Michigan athletics and the reputation of the University since the Fab Five basketball scandal.

I think one of my colleagues on main campus might feel that way after just being over there, so it might be possible. Imagine, more than 10,000 miles from home and "a stakeholder" tells you RR is a concern.

It looks like RR's situation isn't completely unique. It does bring new meaning, however, to RR trying to 'Kill' the WV program. :tongue2:

Former Southern Illinois coach sues school over contract

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Former Southern Illinois coach Jerry Kill sued the school, disputing claims he owes nearly $58,000 for breaking his contract.

Kill coached the Salukis for seven seasons. He resigned in December to coach Northern Illinois less than a week after guiding the Salukis (12-2) to the semifinals of the Football Championship Subdivision.

His lawsuit was filed Feb. 5, days before SIU's deadline for Kill to pay. Kill called the payback provision illegal and unenforceable because it gave him no option to leave without penalty unless he died, became disabled, quit football or was fired.

Southern Illinois athletic director Mario Moccia said the university included a buyout in Kill's contract because the cost of finding a new coach on short notice can be expensive.

Rich Rodriguez goes back to school, learning about Michigan's rich tradition

By LARRY LAGE, AP Sports Writer
February 14, 2008

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Rich Rodriguez's office walls are bare.

Behind his desk, Michigan football helmets rest atop wooden shelves just above some pictures of his wife and their two kids along with playbooks from his years at West Virginia.

Sun pours through the glass-filled wall facing the south, where earth-moving equipment is paving the way for a 100,000-plus square foot football facility.

Not far away, a massive construction project is also under way at Michigan Stadium.

"I guess you could say change is in the air," Rodriguez said Thursday morning at Schembechler Hall.

Rodriguez has gone back to school at Michigan, welcoming the 1969 team to speak to the team last week and more than 200 former players this weekend.

"When you're new, you want to learn as much as you can about the tradition of the program, the university and the community and I'm trying to do it as quickly as I can," said Rodriguez, who was hired away from West Virginia in December to succeed retiring coach Lloyd Carr. "I've read one book, "Bo's Lasting Lessons," by John Bacon, and several other books have been sent to me by fans.

"I'm having fun with it." Rodriguez was hired to lead college football's winningest program two months ago and it was a rare day when he and his former employer were not in the news. "Too much drama," Rodriguez said with a sigh.
