Reverend Dabo Swinney (HC Clemson Tigers - GSCS), random mid-century cars, and steroids

Not sure what's wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with introducing things as long as players are given the option to say yes/no.
As a person who has strong religious beliefs, I guess the problem is one of power relations. There is nothing wrong with holding strong religious beliefs. When those beliefs are presented in a way that doesn't allow a player to independently investigate the truth of a religion or that suggests that rejecting the message may impact on opportunities to play or progress, then I think it is wrong.

I don't think it's that deep. I think these idiots just think that playing for Clemson is somehow what God wants, and that Dabo has been chosen to save these select few who just so happen to be fast and strong with football pads on.

And you think that zealots like Dabo don't create an institutional culture within their programs where players feel pressure to conform to and adopt a particular sectarian religious viewpoint? Those coaches control your playing time and chance of getting to the NFL. Saying, "no thanks, I don't believe in god" isn't as free and easy a choice as it might appear.

Fair point.

Exactly why certain areas of our country vote the way they do. Won't go into it further.

This implies that Dabo wouldn't recruit and play a kid who was an outstanding football player but also Jewish or Muslim.
We don't have any evidence to support this.

I'm certain he would recruit them.....which points towards how phoney the whole thing is. God doesn't give a shit what school you go to, as long as it's not Penn St.
