You kids stay off my lawn!
We traveled from Delft to Amsterdam by train yesterday. How civilized. We walked a bit to the Anne Frank House. I was surprised at the amount of space the family actually had to live in, but then you had to consider keeping quiet all day long to include not using the toilet between 7 in the morning and 7 at night. Not being able to ever go outside or even look out the windows. It was eerie to walk on the same floorboards, touch the handle that pulled the book case back into place to cover their secret stairway, to read an actual page from her diary and all the while seeing that enigmatic, innocent smile in her photo.
Amsterdam was gritty, grimy compared to, say, Munich. But you can get anywhere quickly by boat or tram and all of that connects back to the trains, which then connects to the airport.
The Dutch no longer support the excesses that brought about needle park and mary jo wanna is illegal, but tolerated. Thus there are Koffe houses where you can buy a cup of Joe and a doobie or a bag, and there are cafe's where you can get a strudle and a cup of coffee, but no mind altering substances.
We pack up tomorrow and head home in time to root the Bucks on to Victory.
