Reggie Bush (Heisman Winner)

Sophmore
I've heard a lot about this guy, but I never saw him paly due to where I live...I searched for a couple of videos and found a few that people made, all about reggie. After watching, I can't say that I'm very impressed. He has very nice cuts, but the oppoents are just terrible. Its very rare for USC to play against ranked teams, and thus, its easier for them to go to the nationals. I remember a few years back when Cal (nor USC) was ranked as high as #3, but got raped in their bowl game. So anyway, is Reggie Bush really as amazing as they say, or does he just look better because his opponents can't tackle as well as other good defensive school? I think he's overrated personally, but prove me wrong. :)

Um, if you're gonna use that argument, what good team did Ginn school? Iowa & Wisky had the best team D and he wasn't really a factor yet in those games.

Yes he has schooled some good opponents. He plays at a different speed, just like Ginn, except that he's able to handle a few more RB carries with slightly more weight. Tho that could change with Ginn's extra weight.

Let me get this straight...you've never seen Bush play aside from some homemade videos, and so now you think he ain't shit although the rest of the college football world, including the vast majority of members on this Ohio State board, think he's one of the very best players in the country.

Somebody issue a "dipshit alert."

In all honesty, If I had a vote for the Heisman last year I would have voted for Reggie Bush. The kid does nothing but dominate against pretty damn good football teams that put in a defensive game plan specifically designed to at best, neutralize him.

lol, damn whats with all the flaming guys? I stated my opinion...you don't have to call me an idiot for that....

So you guys are saying that the level of Defense that USC plays matches the oppponents that schools play in the Big 10 and Big 12?

http://usctrojans.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/sched/usc-m-footbl-sched.html

I can only see about 2-3 teams with defenses even worth mentioning. Looking at the schedule and comparing to teams like...Texas, is it just me or does Texas have to play through harder teams to be undefeated?

The highlight reels of Bush are the only things I can watch of him. Plus, its his best plays, so if anything, they should make him look better. I didn't say he wasn't shit, I said I was let down from all the hype I heard.

I don't really see why it matters that you'd vote for him....And pretty damn good football teams? USC only played against 2 teams in the top 25 in the regular season. Although I have to admit, he did pretty well against those teams.

"He's kind of like Marshall Faulk, only he returns kicks as well. I guess you could be deceived by watching a player like Faulk or Bush and think, "What's the big deal?" Yet, no one seems to stop them...."

That's basically what I'm thinking. The replays I saw of him were against like, Colorado State, and UCLA so....

"Did you watch this clip and come to that conclusion?
http://www.trojanfb.com/usc_adr_wmv.php"

Yeah, the clips I saw were from trojanftb.com. Not sure if it was that one though....

"Did you ever think that maybe his opponents look so bad not because they ARE bad, but rather that Bush is so good that he makes them look that way?"

I would think that if USC played against higher ranked teams, but being a part of the Pac-10 doesn't really help.

And thanks for the vids HilmerJ, I'll watch them as soon as possible.

Same here. Reggie Bush's bio speaks for itself.

It's foolish to say that you've never really seen someone play and then proceed to trash him. If you're basing the critique off Bush's highlight films, then you're really full of shit. Then you play innocent and ask not to be called an idiot. But you can only be an idiot when you judge a player that you have no knowledge of, with the obvious purpose of stirring things up and getting attention.

The most legitimate criticism of Bush is his tendency to fumble. That being said, he is still one of the best in the country, regardless of position, and is electrifying every week.

"It's foolish to say that you've never really seen someone play and then proceed to trash him."

When did I trash him? I merely said that he looked overrated from the video clips that I saw. Trashing a player would be saying that he has no talent at all right?

"If you're basing the critique off Bush's highlight films, then you're really full of shit."

What else is there to base off of? I can't watch his games, I can only hear what people say about him on ESPN and see the videos around the internet and TV. What am I missing from not seeing him live on television? The atmosphere? The loud fans chanting his name? The only thing that I don't get to experience is the momentum he gives his team.

" Then you play innocent and ask not to be called an idiot. "

This is where you guys are at fault. Why the hell did you guys think that I hated him or something? I asked "So anyway, is Reggie Bush really as amazing as they say, or does he just look better because his opponents can't tackle as well as other good defensive school?", because I don't know enough about him. Seeing as how you guys are seemingly intelligent football fans, I wanted to see what you guys thought of him, and maybe see why he was such a big deal.

"But you can only be an idiot when you judge a player that you have no knowledge of,"

I judged him by his replays and by the difficulty of his schedule. I would say stats too, but stats generally don't mean jack.

" with the obvious purpose of stirring things up and getting attention."

haha, you don't know me, and "have no knowledge of me" so why are you judging?

"The most legitimate criticism of Bush is his tendency to fumble. "

That IS something I missed from the highlight reels. But I saw it in his statistics.... But he has an enormous number of touches, so fumbling should expected.

"That being said, he is still one of the best in the country, regardless of position, and is electrifying every week."

I don't doubt that its true.
