I saw somebody on ESPN today saying that they probably will not let Bush wear #5 in 2006, but that he (and others) will be allowed to wear different numbers in 2007.

Wow. I haven't heard something this stupid in awhile (not your claim, BB73, but the fact that this may happen). Anyone who buys, or is willing to buy a Bush jersey this year is completely pathetic, and whoever has bought one must be feeling really stupid right now.

Ok, I don't know what that little rant was about. If Bush is very successful, it might be a valuable novelty/throwback uniform as the number he wore for one year.

No. What I meant is that I think it would be stupid to see Bush be handed a number this year, and then have it completely changed the next year. I just don't see any point in that. If they're going to change it (which I really don't have much of a problem with, anymore), then they might as well just do it this year.

It's the NFL. What would things be if they couldn't make it complicated?? :tongue2:

I don't know how to post the article on here, but apparently Bush will be number 25 (like I thought :wink2: ).

That doesn't say Bush will be wearing #25, all it says is he is going to wear #5 for the trading card photo shoot. He's even wearing #5 in training camp.

If anything, its almost giving more support towards the case for #5.

The NFL rules will change in time. Back when that rule(Early 70's) was made, RB's almost always wore numbers in the 40's. WR's wore the 80's, and QB's wore numbers in the 10's. That was the tradition or "thing" then. Even in HS and College.

Now in this day and age players like to wear low numbers, because that is the "thing" now. You "rarely" see in this day, a RB wearing 40's. Most of them try to get as low a number as possible.

I'm no expert, nor was I around in the 70's. I'm not trying to say that. But its pretty obvious. Star backs in the 70's almost always wore a 40, the high RB numbers. Archie Griffin comes to mind.

Thats just my view. I think ineligible(Offensive Linemen) players should be able to chose and wear any number 50-79. And eligible players should be able to chose and wear any number 1-49 and 80-89. Have the 90's for D-lineman if they want to wear them.
