if you don't want to have a debate, then you probably will want to find another board. You are free to express your opinion, and we're free to disagree with it strongly.
No I do not think Holmes is "showoff-ish". He has actually put himself through alot with his girlfriend and two children living in Florida, while staying in college and playing ball in Ohio. Thats a class act IMO. He could have went pro last year and make money for his family, but stayed, not just for a better draft position, but for the OSU fans. If you are getting at that Holmes put up his finger (signaling #1) at the ND game, then I still dont think that compares to the numerous amount of flips and rolls Bush did into the endzone.
holmes dove into the endzone against UM, MSU, UM 04, etc (edit: plus the celebratory entrance vs ND). He would have scored without diving in all of those examples. If rolling into the endzone is flashy, then so are his TD entrances. Personally, I think both could have drawn less attention to themeslves, but neither deserves to be called out for it. His wonderful commitment to his family has very little to do with his on-field behavior.
Im sorry that Methopms and you dont agree with me, but that doesnt make my view wrong, so please, dont try and act like Im talking out of my ass here. Hell, Mike and Mike in the morning were even talking about how Bush made a mistake to make promises when drafted (of comming into camp with a contract signed).
Golic has been talking about this for a while on ESPN. The mistake was making a premature promise in a very serious business.
I can understand asking for just a few million more, but come on, its not like hes only being offered a few hundred thousand.
Which one is it? Can he ask for a few million more, or should he not b/c he's getting much more than few hundred thousand. I'm not even sure why you threw that number out there, as it is a pathetic offer for how much value he will bring to the saints. He may be rich beyond anything we will ever see, but that doesn't mean he cannot ask for a fair contract.
Whether you want to agree with me or not, N.O. is jsut not the place to be haggling for more money right now. Sorry if you dont like it, but its true. Bush is a representation of New Orleans and it just doesnt seem like the right place.
this is the NO's owner/front office's fault, not reggie's. He's a star football player playing in a $4 billion dollar industry. If NO is not the place for big contracts, then yell at the owner.
----

I did read your other posts. You have not provided any evidence of whining by bush, despite labeling him as a whiner. He was respectful when he was denied the # request, and was honorable by still donating the 25% of his jersey sales.

He's bringing life back to a ravaged area/franchise, tons of fans have bought season tickets, and he is donating money to the Katrina effort. Many thought football could never survive in NO, but in 2 months as a saint, Bush has brought new hope to the area/franchise. How many other rookies are making an effort to help with katrina?
-----

You didn't answer methomps' question:

Regarding the contract issue and Katrina victims...

Your objections would make sense if this extra money Reggie wants would be coming from the Katrina victims. But, it isn't. The money is coming from multi-millionaire (perhaps billionaire) Tom Benson. How does the situation for Katrina victims improve if Tom Benson keeps the extra millions instead of giving it to Reggie?

The Tom Benson who has shown absolutely no loyalty to New Orleans, even after Katrina?

I never came on this one looking for a debate, more or less jsut expressing my opinion like everyone else.

In respnse to Holmes diving into the endzone against Michigan, rewatch the tape. The safety was closing in on Holmes and even the announcers came to the conclusion that that you have to judge in favor of Holmes that he could have been tackled. Now whether or not you agree with me or the two annoucers that there is no clear cut decision on why he dove (celebration or not), you cant say he dove for the fun of it, so you can cross that one off of your list.

I agree about the mistake, and thats what I was getting at to begin with. He should have kept his mouth shut, as I have been saying. Maybe you didnt read where I said that hes a rookie and should have "kept his mouth shut"? So you actually agree that he made a mistake by talking about his contract and openly exressing one view, before changing to another. Had Bush just kept quiet about it all, there would be no need for this conversation or for me to even talk about his contract holdout. I said in my first post that I didnt like the way he changed his views publicly.

As for asking for more money. There is a fine line between a few million and and what could be 10 million. I dont know exactly what goes on behind those close doors. Maybe you can tell me? Oh wait, thats right, you cant because you are not Reggie Bush nor an affiliate with the NO Saints. You are just like me, a normal citizen that has an opinion. You may think my reqasoning is stupid, but in return I think yours is just as silly. I dont care how many people agree with you, it doesnt make my view ignorant, and yours correct. So you can try to shut down my opinions on a person, but really they have the same weight as yours, even though you are a "moderator" and have a 20,000+ posts on this site.

Also, I didnt bring up the owner because this thread isnt about the owner, its about Reggie Bush (as I have seen many conversations quieted for going off topic on BuckeyePlanet). Tom Benson isnt a role model by any means IMO. With all the talk of moving the francise at a time like this really makes me pitty the citizens of NO for having to hear about this. I dislike the way situations have been publicly handled, and thats just my stance. They ahve rubbed me the wrong way.

Sorry that you dislike my views, but like I said, it carries the same weight as everyone elses views on this site, no matter how many back you up.

AFB, do you think Holmes is showoff-ish? Do you hold his numerous dives into the end zone against him? (sure some have been 'legal' but they are a clear staple of his TDs)

What do you mean "numerous" dives? Has has three, one each in The Game 2004 and 2005, and the 2005 MSU game. And all three were valid dives (although a yayhoo ref in the 2005 game didn't think so).

The only time I recall him celebrating a TD in a manner that warranted a flag was in the Fiesta Bowl against ND, and even then it was shakey. I don't consider Holmes "showoff-ish" at all...

I guess you should put a disclaimer on your post, or simply not respond to mine... if you're not interested in having any sort of debate on the topic. You put out your viewpoint, and I responded with my views. I felt calling him a whiner was unfair, and so the debate began. The 'we' was in reference to methomps and myself, two individuals who disagreed with your assertions.

Nowhere did I say I understood what was going on behind the secenes in NO. You claimed NO was the wrong place to be haggling for money, and I think that objection should be with the owner, not Reggie, for keeping a football team in NO. Even the lowest paid players are making a killing... so if jealousy of overpaid players is a serious issue, then it is that way with the entire team.

I was pissed that Holmes got a flag on the play. However, he dove into the endzone in nearly the same fashion the year before against UM (jumping upwards, not forwards... taking off from inside the 1 yard line). I think both were legal, and was his way of going into the endzone.

I don't think he's a showboat... I do think he enjoys diving into the endzone. They were all legal in my book, I just don't think they were necessary.

My point was that despite those dives, I think he's still a standup, classy player.
