Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

it's a joke this game is at 1:00

Yep. I had to duck out of work early the last two days to get there. I can't do it today.

It's not just a joke that the game is at that time, but it's also a joke that the night before the game time still hadn't been set, and depended on whether or not Jose Valverde could manage to get three outs, three time zones away. Ridiculous.

Not only did I sink good money into tickets and get jerked around on game times, but I also can't even get rid of them. The weekday afternoon time and the short notice (and the Reds sucking) have taken away any and all value. I can't even give them away because nobody can go on this short of notice.

This was the last time I buy NLDS tickets. I guess I just didn't know how it works since the Reds never make the playoffs and I wasn't in town the last time they did. It's not just the lead-pipe jinx I put on the team, it's the fact that I paid face value for nosebleed seats when I could have walked up to a scalper yesterday and paid half that amount for four lower-level tickets along the first base side. Regardless of whether the Reds would have won or lost, I was ripped off.

There's no reason they can't have concurrent games in prime time. Heaven forbid they have to interrupt another fucking Law & Order marathon to pull it off.

C. Trent Rosecrans knows a bit about the fanbase.

Sensing another heartbreak, Cincy fans already bailing out on Reds

CINCINNATI -- This is not a city of optimism. As soon as Scott Rolen bobbled Joaquin Arias' grounder in the 10th inning of Game 3 of this National League Division Series, Great American Ball Park went quiet and a sense of defeat and imminent doom found its familiar port on the Ohio River.

This is a city where even a 2-1 series lead is seen as an insurmountable deficit, so after the Giants tied the NLDS with an 8-3 victory on Wednesday, Southwest Ohio was in mourning for the 2012 season.

Cont'd ...

Honestly, if I cared about avoiding shitty baseball I wouldn't have become a Reds fan in the first place. I'd be there today if the game were at 5PM or after, or if I had known before yesterday that today's game was going to start at 1:00.

I might swing by the house and set my DVR to record this game. If Jay Bruce has an 0-4 day with a couple of strikeouts, I'd love to hear the fans rain holy hell on him.

Better get to Matt Cain early today.

I remember from some of the Braves playoff runs in the mid-late 90's that Bobby Cox thought Bruce Bochy was one helluva manager.
I did not come here to troll the Reds fans, but it's pretty clear that he's pushing all the right buttons and has made better adjustments than Dusty Baker.

Bochy has managed brilliantly. He has played Baker like a fiddle ever since the series got to Cincinnati.

I also remember some of those very same Braves playoff runs that would have 15% of the seats available in the upper deck because the fanbase had seen that song and tune before as well.
