Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

You just can't tell with this fucking team.

It's Kremchek. You know damn well exactly what's going to happen.

He'll do some therapy, claim to be better, the Reds will play the NLCS short because Cueto's this close to being back, then in a side-session between Games 2 and 3 he'll tear some obscure muscle between his ribs that nobody even has a name for and his career will be over.

Years from now we'll know he tore his Cueto ligament clean the fuck off the bone and wonder why we never saw that coming.

what I want to know is why the Reds medical staff is 'debating' whether or not to have an MRI done...? wtf??? seriously?? 'debating' to have a 20 minute, non-invasive test to confirm the severity of the injury to your 19 game winner??? what the fuck is there to debate??? they did this shit with Votto and look how well that turned out? you're a professional baseball team...the MRI can't be that fucking expensive to have done! Jesus Christ!!

World Series doesn't begin until Oct 24, so Cueto will be 2-1/2 weeks out from his injury if the Reds can make it. Completely doable.

As for the rest of this series and Leake being on the roster, it doesn't really concern me terribly until we start projecting games against the Cardinals. At least Leake for a start or long relief at GABP doesn't mortify me with the Giants line-up. Limit the damage to Posey's solo HRs and it's completely doable. GABP should play 'normal' as cold as it is this week.

Oblique strains on pitchers tend to take longer than just a normal 15 day DL stint. Maybe he comes back in time but I doubt it at this point if this is indeed the injury he actually has - my guess is it's either an oblique strain, back spasms or a dislocated hip - no one seems to know.

I knew they should have shut him down before the playoffs started to avoid any possibility of injury!

And that would have accomplished what? This type of injury isn't the type that can be fixed by avoiding starts.

Maybe Cueto refuses to remove his bling. No real prep needed, it doesn't do any long or short term problems, and as you mentioned is non invasive.

My only real guess is they are debating if they would actually see anything. I don't know if oblique strains show up on MRIs.

Guys, I was kidding about shutting him down before the playoffs. Guess I'll take my Strasburg material elsewhere. *straightens tie, taps microphone*

Sorry, didn't come across that way. Thought you meant not pitching him before the playoffs and then playing him in the playoffs. My bad.
