Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

7 can evaporate pretty quick. Just look at Atlanta and the Red Sox last year. In the next 8 games the Reds will face Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Lynn, Garcia, Wainright, and Miley.

If the Reds go 4-4 I'd call it a smashing success ... I don't care what the Phillies' actual W/L record is.

The Reds have gotten fat since the all star break and have, off the top of my head, only played 6 games in the last 37 with teams with winning records (WB's and WB's -Pittsurgh Chapter)...I realize how quickly 6.5 games can get burned through...besides...do you have any idea how this thread works??

:)

True, but outside of Cincy, the NL Central fucking sucks. The AAstros wouldn't beat any AAA teams at this point and the Cubs are right there with them. Milwaukee would make a great slow-pitch softball team, leaving Cincy, St Louis and Shitzburgh.

I realize that's not how the thread works, but let's be serious, I don't see the Reds relinquishing that lead anytime soon - the teams trying to catch them are too limited.

Bottom of 9, tied 2-2, and Craig led off the inning with a single. Not really bad IMO. You play for the win at that point. No one should ever play as if a game will go deep into extra innings, and in no way should think "what if this goes 19?"
True, but I still don't think that situation warrants lifting the best hitter in the lineup for the worst. Craig's not a complete sloth out there. Matheny exchanged a .940 OPS bat for a .635 OPS bat. Craig was 2/4 at that point. Descalso went 0/4 while playing out the string.

I just don't see any reason to pinch run for the best hitter on the team. Ever.

Craig is on my fantasy team, which is the only reason I even care, BTW. :p I lost HRs by 1, tied BA, and lost SLG by .006 this week.

The Reds just got swept by the Brewers. Aoki is a fucking vacuum in RF. Dude single-handedly won two of three against the Reds.

Not counting my chickens before they've hatched.

Besides, the Reds will find a way to blow it. The rotation is not set up for this stretch until the back-end against Arizona. Seven games between Philly and StL and Cueto and Latos will both only pitch once in that span.

Doesn't matter how bad the guys chasing you are when you keep tripping over your untied shoelaces.

10 Reasons why this 6 1/2 game lead means exactly dick.

  1. We are talking about The Reds here.
  2. The Reds run a manager out there that would be declared legally retarded if they ever put a test in front of him.
  3. They have the second worst everyday CF in all of baseball, which #2 makes even worse by insisting on hitting him second every night.
  4. The bench is embarrassingly bad.
  5. Those who follow Reds injuries know Votto's career is over.
  6. We are a Scott Rolen DL trip away from Cairo or Valdez starting on a regular basis.
  7. 3/5 of the starting rotation is made up of 2 dirty little hippies and the real world Nuke Laloosh. It is a disaster waiting to happen.
  8. If winning is a disease then one of our bullpen arms is LeCure. Again #2 does a masterful job of magnifying his weakness and limiting his strengths.
  9. Someone let George Grande out of his fucking cage and back on the air.
  10. Again, this is the Reds we are talking about.
