Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

I think the Twins demands will go down...but theres no way I give up two of the three young pitching prospects we have.

If Fowler is off limits and Span costs too much, then our only thee option is to get a legit 4 hole bitter and move DatDude back to lead off. Quentin was just extended so there goes that option...it wi be much harder to find a power bat, I think. But if we have to stand pat, I want Heisey to get more time in center.

Rockies woke us up after getting 3 in the first off Cueto. Reds have hit 3 solo shots in the last 2 innings to get it tied up. Ludwick, Frazier and Stubbs.

Wow. Stubbs must have finally realized that he's the weakest link. Ludwick, for all of the shit I've given him this year, has seriously turned it on. He finally looks comfortable both at the plate and in Left. Frazier should be the NL rookie of the year.

Wow, who are these guys?!? Clutch hits with RiSP. Smart fielding and baserunning so far as well. Cueto doesnt have his best stuff tonight but they've battled back for him now and have a 5-4 lead with men on 1st and 2nd one out. Need to put a couple more in here to give Johnny a cushion.

I've heard it mentioned before but I couldn't really see the correlation in how much the breaking stuff doesnt break in Coors field due to the thin air. It doesn't really have to break much to be effective though and when you are expecting a 6 inch break and only get 2, you get hit.

Lets go boys and put up some more runs tonight. WB's lost already and the Pirates are in a struggle with Houston late in the game.

Johnny has made two really good plays in the field behind his pitching. Thats two potential runs he's picked off the bases by charging down the runner and causing baserunning mistakes by the Rockies.

7-5 Reds going into the 6th.

Freaking Pirates took the lead in the 8th.

Scotty Ro with a solo shot! 8-5 Redlegs. Got the run right back.

Everyone is contributing right now. Who needs Joey Votto anyhow?? :)

Johnny Cueto now with two excellent sacrifice bunts in this game as well. Nice.

Aroldis Chapman

In case anyone hasn't seen this already:

Aroldis Chapman has been nothing short of awesome this month. (US Presswire) Aroldis Chapman broke FIP.

For those who don't know, FIP is Fielding Independent Pitching, a stat that attempts to measure pitchers by looking at those things a pitch can control -- strikeouts, walks, hit by pitches and home runs.

If you want to know more, there's a handy dandy video that explains the basic idea:

Cont.

A lot of self control by Cueto, Hanigan, Price, and Baker. That umpire's strike zone is a joke.

If I'm Cueto and know I'm done for the night, I get tossed just for the hell of it.

I was just going to say the same thing. Then the asshole had the nerve to stare down Cueto on his way back to the dugout. I can't stand when the referee's of a sport have to make themselves known in the contest. Do your damn job and stay out of the way.

Damn. Dodo brain gives up the 2 run squeaker to make it 8-7. This one is going down to the wire yet again. Ludwick needed about 2 more inches on his vertical there to take that one back.

Probably means we get to watch the missile again.

Two down. Marshall in to face CarGo. Do not feel good about this match up. This ump is not calling the corners tonight and Marshall can't afford to miss in the strike zone.

Gets him with the big hooker! I will take it. Cuban missile time in the 9th, fuhgedabowdit!
