Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

Do you blame Cordero for sucking or Brad Mills for running him out there two nights in a row knowing he sucks?

Old school "closer closes" bites the AAstros in the AAss two nights in a row.

Travis Wood is getting absolutely shelled by the Cards. 5 home runs and 8 runs in 5 innings. Sadly the Cubs have actually scored 6 and if Wood didn't suck so bad they could have a nice lead.

For as bad as Marshall has been, I'm glad the Reds cashed in on Wood before he turned back into a pumpkin.

I'm in Elizabethtown, KY for Cal Ripken Little League u11 regionals, and just spent the evening drinking with a dude that was born and bred UK basketball and wearing a StL Cardinals jersey. He sounded as dumb a front-running bandwagon jumper as you could imagine. Espousing the virtues of queen bitch LaRussa ...

This is why I drink with ex-7' centers that played overseas. So when I say something outrageous and stupid in outrage my scrawny ass has big guns to back up the checks my body can't cash.

Would've been better off if my 7' backup hadn't been a Pitt grad that was defending Penn St and Joe Paterno.

Also went to a Louisville Bats game this week to catch a game against the Bisons (Mets). Fred Lewis (I hadn't realized he'd wound up with the Mets org) hit a double off the top of the padding in the right outfield wall that ricocheted out of play. The 1st base ump waves his finger to signal HR. Costanzo blew a fucking gasket in RF because 5,000 people saw a ground rule double. My boy points at Costanzo and says, "That guy cusses more than mom."

Alright...the only way Stubbs and his 200 K's aren't playing every single day is if he's moved. Reds rumored to be in on Pierre, Span, Fowler and Victorino...I dont think they will go for Victorino since we'd have to shake ul our bullpen chemistry for a rental that's having a bad year. I think Pierre is a last minute "ok, were out of luck...call the fuckin' Phillies" option so that leaves Fowler and Span as primary targets. We would have to give up one of Lotzkar, Cingrani or Corcino and then some. Should one of them + Didi/Soto + Stubbs get it done or am I overvaluing our prospects?

A GM was quoted as saying the Twins demands for their players were laughable, especially for Span and Willingham. Span is an improvement, but if they have to give up both Cingrani and Corcino or one of those plus Billy Hamilton (which from the sounds of it that is what they are asking probably along with Stubbs), hell and no. Span isn't that big of an improvement. Victorino, no way. He is Stubbs with worse defense. The Rockies have stated Fowler is off limits, and even then he is a big product of Coors field (his OPS is over 300 points difference road vs. home). Pierre looks ok batting, but is a defensive liability.

Span is really the only answer, and the Twins are demanding the moon from all reports. I would not be surprised to see the Reds stand pat. Considering the way recent trades have gone, I am all for that.
