Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

Dusty said postgame that Bryan Price had a conversation with Chapman after the game. Jeff Piecoro said that Aroldis was disconsolate in his locker afterwards. Larkin on Baseball Tonight not too happy about it either.

For shit's sake. This is a child's game. Let him have some damn fun as long as he does his job.

On the bright side, Phillips will hit in the first with a runner on tomorrow, since Votto is likely taking one in the back from the Brewers.

And since we know there will be two outs at that point - no double play!

Jeebus, these athletes take themselves too seriously. If the Brewers are all butt hurt over a freaking somersault then they can go eat a bag o dicks!

I could see if he was pointing at them and laughing or something but the guy just did a kids somersault towards his catcher after a great inning following 4 atrocious outings. I say fuck em and that includes Duhsty!

So Aroldis sat and pouted in his locker after the coaches told him not to do that. Jebus Christ, that is our closer. Sitting in his locker like a sullen 6 year old told not to eat paste. Yeah, that is the mentality you look for in a closer.

I mentioned it a few weeks ago, but I've never witnessed a Reds no-hitter. The last one was Tom Browning's perfect game, which came at a time that I was aware of the Reds but still a couple years too young to follow them day-to-day. I'd really like to see one some day.

That said, I'm kinda glad last night's bid was broken up. My wife was at that game, in the Frontgate suite with a ticket she got from work. Her employer is one of the radio sponsors. She goes to Reds games with me, but every time by the fourth inning she's complaining about how long the game is taking and wants to leave. Hell, last night after the Reds gave up the lead she left the park - missed the Stubbs HR and the somersaults. I've sat thru a lot of shitty Reds baseball in my day, and sometimes have gone to great lengths to do it. I would have been pissed if my wife came home and was like, "I didn't really want to be there, but there were free drinks and I got to see a no-hitter! Isn't that awesome?!" :grr:

Why can't he handle it like some of the veteran players who have to be told not to eat paste?

Those chickenshit Brewers have kept Braun out of the lineup on a day everybody knows they're gonna throw at Votto.

I am fine with that. Keep out your best player and put a guy on base for a bruise. I have always thought hitting another teams player is idiotic, especially if you do it at the start of a game or if the game is close. Yet you see it all the time.

Agreed there, and it should help the Reds a bit in this case if that is what ends up going down.

Do you think the Brewers will really throw at Votto his first at-bat? I would imagine everyone will be expecting that, so they might wait until the next one...especially if they want to get any innings out of their starter.

As pointed out by a number of Brewers writers & fans, it would be most hypocritical of the Brewers to take exception to another teams' post game celebrations. These are the guys that have done quite a number of choreographed walk-off HR celebrations.
