I guess whoever wrote this story for Yahoo and some of the people who are commenting on this at RedsZone are reading more into this than what's there.

  • The lawsuit - probably a baseless attempt at extortion by someone from Cuba who wants to try to cash in. Anybody can file a lawsuit. Whether or not it gets thrown out is another matter entirely.
  • The speeding ticket - he's 20 years old and drives exotic supercars. What do people expect?
  • The woman in his hotel room is his girlfriend and was the victim of a crime.
I think the people who think the three things are related have read too many grocery store novels or watched too many made-for-TV movies. I think that anyone who suggests that he needs a chaperone are overreacting. Other than the actual robbery, the most shocking thing we've found out about Chapman is that he only has one woman and not several waiting for him in his hotel room. That's an even bigger waste than him not being in the starting rotation.
