Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

Last year I won a couple of fantasy leagues by starting pitchers against the Pirates. Volquez and Wood have foiled that strategy in those leagues the last couple days. I have mixed emotions about it, though. :wink2:

Here is the part that scares me the most:

Career IP/ERA/FIP/xFIP

Bailey: 304/5.09/4.48/4.45
Volquez: 411/4.49/4.43/4.21
Cueto: 531/4.27/4.51/4.3

Arroyo has just shy of 1700 IP that say he's nothing but a low 4 ERA guy.

Where exactly in the fuck is the great leap forward coming from? Mao is dead and these guys track records say we have 4 MLB average SP's plus whatever the fuck Wood and Leake may turn into (not looking great there either).

There is no big time SP talent close in the minors. Chapman is a year away at best.

Its looking more and more like they are going to have to acquire rather than grow at TOR starter. I'm not sure they can pull it off and if they can't this team is going nowhere.

This team can win plenty of games with just decent starting pitching. Yet they are not even getting that.

I agree, lots of regular season games can be won by having a solid BOR and good depth.

You aren't going anywhere in a playoff series running Volquez and Arroyo out against legit TOR aces.

But if the pitching doesn't unfuck its self here soon it won't matter.
