Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

I'm not sure if you mean after the season next year or before the season next year. Bourn has one more year of arbitration, so he is essentially signed through next year.

With that said, I don't like Bourn and could do without him. I am more ticked Hernandez was not dealt. They better offer him arbitration. Of course if he is type A he will take it, and Dusty (who sadly won't be fired) will refuse to start a rookie catcher over Hanigan or Hernandez

My bad. I had read somewhere that he was a rental.

Yep.

History has shown you simply either have to take away from Dusty any veteran option or wait until 2 months after its obvious to everyone else on the planet the vet is just horrible if the kids are going to get a chance.

For a franchise that will have to live and die by the kids it develops from its own farm system that is certainly an odd characteristic for the manager to have.

Its so infuriating. If they think we can win this year, then go make a move for a TOR starter or a bat. If you don't think we can win this year, then get some value for Ramon and call up Mesoraco.

Doing nothing is just... inexcusable.

From Jon Heyman:

rivals wonder why #reds dont call up mesoraco & trade hernandez. dusty likes ramon over rookie in race. so rh stays.

and there you have it.

This franchise is still run by people who are stupid all the way to the owners box.

I can't say it any more plainly than that. To paraphrase Woody, I don't blame a moron for being a moron, I blame the guy who hired the fucking moron(s).

Pro sports always comes back to ownership. You have the Rooney's of the world and you have the Mike Browns. Reds are far closer to the latter than the former.

I'm glad they didn't pay for anyone. I didn't see a single deal outside of the Pence deal I would have made.

Not trading Hernandez is just stupidity. The Giants or the Angels would have given up a good pitching prospect for him. At least they still might be able to deal Coco.

Even though they are 6.5 out, I think they saw the schedule and thought they could get back in it. The Reds only play 1 team with a winning record in the next 4 weeks (the Pirates, and they are only 2 over .500). In the mean time Milwaukee, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh play a bunch and could beat each other up. I believe they all have 2 series with each other in the next month, with the Brewers and Cardinals 3 series (4 more for the rest of the year....thank God, I was tired of watching those two beat up on Houston and Chicago). So with that they wanted to be buyers, but the prices were not right. I understand it, I just don't like it. Hernandez should have been dealt even if they think they can get back in it.

This begs the question, they in the hell is Walt listening to Dusty on player personnel? You would think by now anyone with half a brain would know Dusty has no clue on player personnel. Heck, Dusty is probably asking Walt to see what Willy Tavares is up to.

Which of course leads to my running gag, Dusty does not like to miss out on gaining a bff. It's not about winning, it's about being best buddies with his players. That is why he doesn't want Ramon dealt. I wonder if he and Willy still trade Valentine's Day cards?

Moron #1 listens to moron #2. I blame the worthless cocksucker who hired them both.

As a Cubs fan, I warned all of my friends who root for the Reds of the incomprehensible stupidity of Dusty Baker when they hired him. They didn't believe me at the time, but they believe me now. Dusty Baker is a disgrace as a manager and anyone who makes the grotesque mistake of hiring him deserves to suffer from his idiocy.

Corey Patterson multiple years/multiple teams, Wily Taveras, Edgar Renteria this year etc etc etc

At this point Dusty is simply flipping the bird to Reds management. Bunting in the first inning to move over a guy that could just as easily steal the base vs. Bud freaking Norris. You have to be kidding me. The man needs to be smacked.

Ok...so I'm out west now (Moscow, Idaho)...any way I can catch the games out here? Never had to check before but is there something like an MLB network that bars can get all the games at?

If they weren't ok with him he wouldn't be there.
