Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

Don't be surprised to see Dontrelle Willis soon either. I believe they still have an open 40 man spot. IIRC they have been sitting at 39 since Maloney went on the 60 day DL.

Moves like this might actually get me to watch some more games. Since the team went in the shitter starting with the road trip to Cleveland, I've found better things to occupy time, like cleaning my garage, spraying wasp nests around the house, and drinking beer alone in the dark after the kids go to bed.

I too have watched less of the Reds, and I have turned to self mutilation. Although in the end it's very similar, just less time consuming.

Cozart officially up.

Now what exactly in the fuck took so long is a question only Walt and teh Dusty could answer but consider these are the same two fucktards that let Willie Tavaras and Corey Patterson get damn near 1000 AB's as Reds.

I wouldn't start printing WS tickets just yet or anything but at least its some kind of attempt at improvement.

Interesting part is they are saying Renteria may be DFA'd instead of just sending Paul Castrish down.

6 or one half dozen of the other. Neither can hit worth a lick, but Janish is the better and more versatile defender. DFAing Renteria removes the safety net in case Cozart or Janish gets hurt, but it does open up a 40 man spot (meaning Maloney can be put right back on the 40 man once he gets healthy and they can add Dontrelle to the 40 man this weekend).

As for why is took so long, let's face it, both have been praying to the baseball gods Renteria suddenly found the fountain of youth. Yet for some reason that only happens in St. Louis (from what I hear the fountain has two types of liquid, cream and clear).

I think keeping Janish is the right move. Even with Cario, they need Janish's versatility. Renteria has no interest in backing up 3B or 2B (and has no business trying, either). If you have a game where Cairo is starting because Rolen is sore, they'll need somebody who can come off the bench in case something happens at one of the other IF positions - like if Phillips hurts himself on some Willie Mays Hayes shit or if Votto gets tossed for daring to argue a called strike that's 18 inches off the outside of the plate.
