Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

goodness EE came close to giving them the lead right back, missed foul poll by 3 ft prob...

full count 2 out ee still up with man on 1st...

got him out, whew

Interesting stat on EE. He has started 23 games in the field, and played in 30 games in the field (combo of 3rd and 1st). He has 11 errors in those games. He was always bad in the field, but that is historically bad. If he played every game in the field he would have 59 errors. If he started every game in the field, it would be close to 70 errors. That would put him 1st in modern baseball (since WW2, you know, when baseball gloves started to allow catches with 1 hand). Most errors in a season since WW2 is Roy Smalley who had 51 in 1950. On top of that, EE plays corner positions where most of the high error players are SS's (the toughest infield position).

That is how bad EE is in the field.

doesn't he suck batting usually as well? I seem to remember he had like a .150 BA one time for the Reds during his last season here

he makes Johnny Gomes look like Votto

He was an above average hitter for the most part, but yes, in his last year with the Reds he hit .209 (I am sure some of that time was spent on the interstate). I think everyone was glad to see him go.

That is a strange managerial decision. I would have walked Cairo, forcing Lewis to the plate. If Dusty stays with Lewis, stick with the lefty. If Dusty pinch hits, then bring in the righty.

Of course said lefty just gave up to hits to lefties, so maybe he was just tired of seeing him get hit.
