Reds tidbits (2010 season)

now I haven't been able to watch it since I live in fla, but it seems that its pretty obvious that this team just isn't ready for big time playoff type ball yet, sooo many defensive blunders that hasn't happened

It has happened to Gomes all year, and he was at the forefront tonight.

Didn't see it mentioned in the thread, but John Fay has tweeted from the press box that the Cards TV crew has video of Cueto kicking LaRue in the head during the melee. Also, for those wondering: Carpenter 6'6" 230, Rolen 6'4" 250. There is apparently some bad blood between Rolen and Carpenter going back to when they were teammates.

I'm guessing maybe Rolen doesn't like being told where to play and what glove to use by whiny little bitches?

On Carpenter vs Rolen; old age and treachery will overcome youth and enthusiasm every time. My money is on Rolen.

With all due respect, the Cards' TV crew can shove that footage directly up their pujols.

Just saw the replay on SportsCenter with all the stills. Ramon Hernandez had Mark McGwire in a headlock/ sleeper hold. Fucking awesome.

And it appears the real brawl broke out when Carpenter popped off at Dusty Baker. Whatever Carpenter said, Rolen heard.

At least I only paid $5 to attend that jailsexing.

The game recap on SI.com had this to say about Cueto's role:

Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals benches clear after Brandon Phillips comments - MLB - SI.com

Reds starting pitcher Johnny Cueto ended up with his back against the backstop, kicking furiously to free himself from the mob.

I was on the opposite side of the stadium, and I have not seen a replay. I saw the altercation go to the backstop, and they I saw Cueto leave it. I didn't see him specifically in the fracas, but the way was acting as he emerged and went toward the dugout seemed to corroborate SI's account.

Good for Cueto. Protect that pitching hand. He's not exactly a big guy and if he was pinned to the backstop, I say anything goes in that situation. Let Gomes, Nix and Rolen do the dirty work on em. Pitchers need to stay healthy. lol
