Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

Dumb fuck, bafoon, baboon, bob boone...matters not.

what matters is that this Reds team has a better record than the team that Dunn is hitting all those home runs and has that high OPS for.
hey, Jax...clogging the base paths?? when was the last time your love interest went first to third on a single? great, he hit 40 home runs (40 homers and BARELY 100RBI...Jesus H. Christ, that's damn near impossible to do). how many times was he on base when the hitter behind him singled? You're a mindless twit who has completely got caught up in one stat and that is OPS. great, he has high OPS...but he can't run (so he is less likely to score a run for his team from first base on a 2b and he's even less likely to take 3rd on a single...thusly not creating more runs for his team). He can't field to save his life and his throwing arm is more limpwristed than yours (which means he allowed more runners to score from second base on singles or move to 3rd on hits in front of him and allowed more runners, total, to reach first base)...not to mention his awarness on the field and on the bases (as evidenced last night) was just as big a liability.

again, this is NOT beer league softball...

seriously, keep sucking on the only stat you have to defend the Dunner...it's what your good at.

Jax is killing it in this thread...With the jokes and bringing the truth...

I would love to see this years team with Dunn in the lineup...

OPS is the most important stat when you are talking about hitting...It it what it is...The guy doesn't make outs, and his hits log more bases.

When Dunn had bafoons batting in front and behind him he didn't get great pitches...

I could agree with a culture change, obviously this past week we saw that him and Phillips were not best friends, but you can't look past what his bat would do for our lineup...

Bruce, Votto, Dunn, Phillips...Gomes/Nix/Dickerson would be great bench players for us...

I know you have a hard time keeping up but I'll say it again....I'm not pro-Dunn. I'm anti-idiocy. That's why you and I clash.

As far as as that garbage you just rambled declaring your disdain of OPS for more important things like 300 lb sluggers being able to run fast, I'll leave it at what you wrote.

Nothing I could say could illustrate your ignorance better than just letting you type.

I'm fine with the culture change aspect and I don't think it needs to be only Dunn. Bobby Abreu and Pat Burrell were availible and signed for cheap this off season. I'd love to have either one in LF.

They signed with the Angles and Rays respectively who are both adherents to NL style small ball and a lot more successful than the Reds. Seems I'm not the only one who thinks it might be a good idea to have a nice blend of power and speed on a team.

80 pitch complete game by a guy coming into today with an ERA of 8. PATHETIC. Where are you Joey V!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick question...coming into tonights crap fest how many Reds have more than 100AB's and an OBP over .350?

Answer) 2 Votto and Dickerson

Perhaps the question should be "how exactly in the fuck did you expect this team to score runs consistently over 162 games with 6-7 out machines in the lineup every night Walt?"...oh thats right we were going to "manufacture" them. Tough to manufacture runs when your prize FA speed demon lead off machine has an OBP of .294.

Team is 11th out of 16 in NL runs scored and dropping. Everyone that was playing over their head in April and May has come back to earth like SkyLab and Votto is hurt.

Coming into tonight they had scored and allowed exactly 256 runs so .500 is to be expected. Going forward the run scoring is obviously going to suffer and the run prevention is going to be less effective with Volquez hurt. This team just doesn't have the offensive talent or depth to be anything better than a .500 team for a season unless you get another fluke like '99 and multiple guys have career years (not looking real good for that right now).

Dunn in this lineup would be awesome. Jermaine Dye too for that matter. You guys would be in first by a couple of games IMO.

That performance is more like the Reds I expected to see instead of the team that has been playing well above their own heads much of the year so far.

I cant believe Dusty keeps running Taveras out there who is 0 for his last 30 and you have Dickerson on the bench who is not only an upgrade on defense, but gives you a much better at bat everytime. Perfect example on how bad Taveras has beenat the plate. During the Nationals game the other night Cueto walks on four straight balls and what does Taveras do next? He swings at 2 pitches over his head and 1 in the dirt. So Hairston comes up next and takes four straight balls. Taveras peaked and Arizona and it's time for his ass to be on the bench.

For the sake of perspective, you could describe about any team in the MLB save the Yanks, Dodgers, and Red Sox with that statement. There is only so much talent to go around. Not making excuses for the crap we are currently seeing, but it's pretty difficult to catch lightning in a jar... even with the pay roll of the Mets or Cubs. The Reds do have a core group of youngsters that have the potential to mature at the right time. They are a year or two away and barring injury and plus a lucky move and a guy or two having a career year, they could be looking more like the current Brewers than the current Orioles.

What exactly is it in The Dusty's track record that made you think he wouldn't run fast Willie out there every day no matter how bad he stinks up the joint? The guy doesn't clog bases.

Better question for you. Who's the bigger fool, the field manager who plays the guy his boss signed or the GM who went and signed this fucking dud to a 2 year contract for 6M when no one else in baseball wanted him?

I told you guys when Walt came to Cincy and his first move was to sign Willie fucking Tavaras it was proof positive that whatever the fuck Mike Brown has is airborn and contagious.

True. It pretty much takes an army of youngsters to all hit the beach about the same time.
