Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

ESPN's MLB GameCast has been updated for this year. Now, there are real-time probabilities calculated pitch-by-pitch for every situation, including a predictor for which team will win. It's like watching the WSOP.

Although, I don't think these probabilities take into account that one of the teams is the Reds. For example, with a runner on first and nobody out, the ticker calculates that the odds of scoring a run in the inning are 42%.

On cue, EE gets doubled off first on a pop fly.

I can't wait to see the "probability" of the Reds scoring when they get a runner to third base with less than two outs.

The existence of a negative probability would blow-up ESPN's GameCast.

Thom: "Struck him out....no the ball popped out of his glove....I don't know if he fouled it off...."

Uh, yeah he did, Thom. Otherwise it would be a strike out. Welcome to baseball. :tic:

I apologize Thom. I know it must be hard to do your job when your mind is elsewhere thinking about Tim Tebow.
