Calling this "manufactured offense" is an insult to everybody I know that works in manufacturing.

As for "Balentein and his .213" - What's sad is not that they acquired the guy, but the fact that he walks into Cincinnati and is instantly the third best OF on the team right now.

I don't know why you guys keep talking about Balentien? The Reds didn't get him, they actually traded Robert Manuel for some Ballantine.

For one, Ballantine XXX is offensive and not for children, like watching the Reds.

Two, Ballantine's logo is 3-rings, which fits right into the 3-ring circus that is the Reds' clubhouse.

And three, Dusty realized if he's going to watch this shit anymore, he might as well get drunk, which is what I've been doing the past week.

After reaching 26-20, these bastards have gone 19-35 since (.352 winning % :slappy:). They are 8-17 in July, despite winning 3 of the first 4 in the month. Since 7/4, they are 5-16.

WE'RE ONLY 9.5 GAMES OUT OF FIRST!!!11!!!! BUY, BUY, BUY!!!!

And 2 games out of last. Only 4 teams in the NL have a worse record. Only 4 teams in the AL have a worse record. And management thinks we've got a shot to contend this season?

I just don't like having to learn to spell the fuckers name. He's WB to me for the rest of his Reds acreer, however long that may be.

All seriousness, no downside potential HUGE upside move. In lieu of actually making trades to get better some good old fashioned dumpster diving is always nice. :roll2:

Bronson Arroyo, a former Boston Red Sox teammate of Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz, said he would not be surprised to find his name on a list of 104 ballplayers who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, as he had heard a then-legal supplement he was using was tainted with steroids, the Boston Herald reported.

Arroyo, according to the report, said he does not know if Ortiz and Ramirez, who were identified in a New York Times story as also being among the 104 players testing positive in 2003, were taking anything -- or if so, what it was. He said his knowledge of what his teammates did ended at the clubhouse door. But he does not believe that their accomplishments should be diminished as a result.

For somebody who whined so much about having to go from Boston to Cincy, he sure does go out of his way with his mouth or his arm to torpedo his trade value whenever the chance comes up.

Not a Reds fan but I saw this trade and I'm wondering if you guys can shed some light on it. If I'm not mistaken, Sickels had the two prospects the Reds gave up in his preseason top 10. Why does a team that is 11 games under .500 trade a fairly young player and two decent prospects for a 35 year old 3rd baseman? Is this move aimed at contending next year? Just can't figure out what need the Reds have for Rolen.
