Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

It is a double edge sword tho, if Griffey and Dunn don't do those things and hit into the shift then the other team wins as well and doesn't have to worry about runners on base and also the OBP goes down...

I have no problem with them doing it some and maybe it will make teams be more honest and then the whole field will open up...

I agree it is the slugging percentage that needs to increase and we have guys that can do that, we just aren't doing it right now...Lots of K's don't help either...

Well, crap. I missed a lot of the game last night while playing poker, though I did catch most of the first three innings. That was a pretty sorry 1st: sending 6 men to bat, recording 1 hit, having FOUR base runners, and still not getting a run. That really set the tone.

On the bright side, in the Reds losses, the scores are of the 1-0, 3-2, 5-3, and 4-2 variety. That's a step in the right direction from the 7-0, 10-6, 9-2, 12-7 type losses they racked up last year. Their RS/RA splits to date place them in the top half of the NL in offense, and the top 4 of the NL in pitching (#5 overall in RA for all 30 MLB teams). After last year, I'll take that in a heartbeat.

Here's hoping for a better result tonight!

One thing I've been thinking about: Dunn still doesn't have a contract, right? Last I read he is playing on the '08 club option this year and will be a FA when the season is over, correct?

What about...

Kepp
Dunn
Griffey
Phillips
Votto
EE
Patterson
Bako/Valentine

I like this lineup, it gets your two best OBP guys at the top and then you have 4 guys that should be able to bring them aorund...It lessens Patterson's at bats, but he is still bringing some pop so you leave him in there and hope that he can do damage if the guys above him can't...

That's what I figured. Sucks. If Carlos Lee can get a 6-year/$100M deal, Dunn will get something even higher in FA, and it won't be from the Reds.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Griffey in left and Bruce in right sometime after June 15th. WK can't let Dunn walk for nothing, and he is a pretty big bargaining chip that'll fill a lot of holes.

There's a shocker, Dunn leaving those bases clogged against Marte. Rat turds!

These fucking guys get any two hits in an inning and score we need 4 fucking singles to score a run.

11 hits now through 6 2/3 and we still only have 3 runs

come on EE
