Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

Bronson Arroyo's trade value has never been higher.

We have some young arms in Maloney and Thompson who could take his place, maybe we'll be able to pilfer someones roster at the last minute.

Can't trade Bronson, we need his bat. He's the most clutch hitter on the team, and has more power from the right side than half the bums in the dugout.

He would have had a triple last night if Ross wasn't so fucking slow.

Both injured right now...Honestly I would like to see the next call-up if we need one to be Bobby Livingston...He is in AAA, throws tonight and has been throwing fairly well...

I was listening to the 2nd inning on my way back to work after lunch. I don't think I've ever heard Marty so depressingly down on them. He's usually down on them in a mean way where you kind of know he just wishes it was like the 70s again......but this was like he's finally given up all hope for any future that could have a winning Red's ballclub.

They were discussing AA and A players that needed to be brought up. It was kind of sad.

In a couple more years Marty will be channeling his inner-Harry Doyle.

- That's all we got, one goddamn hit?
- You can't say goddamn on the air.
- Don't worry, nobody is listening anyway.

- Remember, fans, Tuesday is Die Hard Night. Free admission for anyone who was actually alive the last time the Reds won the pennant.

If this clip isn't a microcasm of being a Reds fan every year I don't know what is. Lets just say I can relate to Rany Quaids charachter.

If the Reds have a winning season in the next 20 years it will be a miracle. Management is probably convinced we're some bullpen help away from winning. I don't think the Reds have any shot of winning short of a Marlins/Indians style blow up everything and rebuild plan.

Same quote, different day.

I will disagree with this...He was very unlucky last night...His last two runs were given up on a ball that was a routine grounder, that he tried to make a play on and it went into right field off his glove...

He has shown that he has stuff to get big league hitters out, it is just not consistent enough in terms of location...

Reminds me of a younger Kyle Lohse...
