Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

So just to recap:

The owner says the losing stops now and fires the GM. The new GM comes in and takes months to evaluate the team in order to pull the blockbuster deal of.....trading Jr? Thats fucking it?

We're sitting here 13+ games out with the same band of fucktards we started with minus JR and thats supposed to fix something? We fucking pay someone to do this?

You're tired of losing Bob? This is how your boy Walt fixes it? Hey numbnuts - I can fucking do the job for 1/10th of what you have paid the last 2 GM's. I'll put polls for what I should do as GM on RZ and throw darts at a board and I guarandamntee you I'll do better. At least I'll goddamn do something.

Give me a fucking break. This is just typical of being a Reds fan. We suffer under an owner who doesn't want to win, now we get one that wants to win but can't figure out how. :sad2:

Makes you yearn for the days of Marge Schott doesn't it?

Just curious what you wanted Walt to do?

He got rid of Griffey's salary...He has brough up Bruce, tried to send Patterson away but was forced to bring him back up...Couldn't trade Dunn because there were no takers, for what we had to get for him...No one wanted Arroyo's contract...

It would of been great to pull off an Indians trade like they did with the Brewers, but you gotta have pieces to do so...It is time to try and push some guys out after the season...

I still think injuries have been the thing that has hurt us the most this season...

They could still trade Dunn on August 20th if they want actually....

The Reds aren't a quick fix or a trade or two away (an example would be something like what Milwaukee looks like now - Cincy isn't anywhere near that type of foundation). Jocketty has at least a 2 full season rebuilding job to even start yet. The earliest I see them really contending for anything is 2011 at the earliest. And you can thank every GM since 2002 for it too.

Your favorite franchise wasn't going to go anywhere until Griffey was out of the picture. Less so with Dunn, but he's likely gone at the end of the year anyway.

I remember when they swung the deal to bring him to Cincinnati. Besides the 1990 season, it's one of my favorite memories as a fan. I am still grateful that he took less money to come to the Reds. Things didn't turn out the way we all hoped, and that makes this a sad day for him. I'll be rooting for him in Chicago and wherever else he goes, just like I followed him with Seattle before he became a Red. Hopefully both parties are on their way to better things.
