I was in the camp that didn't mind them keeping Bruce in the minors to delay starting his arb clock. The reasoning was that no single player could change the Reds' fortunes the the extent needed. Looks like I may have been wrong about that. This is a different and much better team with Bruce out there. Kinda makes you wonder if things would be different if he had broke camp with with the big leaguers. I admit I didn't see it, and apparently, neither did Wayne Krivsky. Then again, it is not my JOB to see these things.

I liked what Hairston did today jawing at that shitstain that dropped the bunt. That is the kind of vocal leadership that this team has not had since Greg Vaughn.

Speaking of Vaughn, I think this thing is starting to come together like that '99 team. Bruce can replicate Vaughn's stick (if not more) and Hairston can bring the leadership. Maybe he can even replicate Pokey Reese's career year. Now we just need them to find a young 'un to step up in the pen a la Scott Williamson, and a vet for the rotation to have a career year and eat innings (Steve Parris) and they'll really be in business!

Walt is a promotin' man and I love it...

Walt is taking out the trash and I'm lovin' it!

Speaking of maybe naming a child after Jay Bruce, I'm thinking I may name ALL of my future children after him. Even the girls. It works for George Foreman, and he barely has warning track power.

Now we just need to take it on the road...This series in Philly could be huge for us in terms of confidence, if we can ride the wave from home...

If we take 3-4, get one game over .500...Bailey comes up and has a nice start on Thursday, then I am envisioning some really good things coming for us...4-4 would be very good like Jax said, but I am hoping that we continue the winning streak and then bring it back home and we could really take off like getting 5 or 6 games over .500...

I think everyone should be prepared for 2-2 with Philly and then maybe do some business down in Florida for 4. The pitching matchups look pretty good in the entire FL series whereas 2 of the Philly games don't look so hot for us.

Bottom line it never works out exactly like you think it will. Go on the road vs two of the best teams in the NL, come back 4-4 and all is well.

No Griffey tonight. Freel is in CF, Bruce in RF. Bruce slides down to the #3 spot, Freel in at #2.

I think I'd rather keep Hairston & Bruce 1-2 - the Reds are undefeated with those two at the top.

Tonight's lineup (per RZ, per John Fay):

Jerry Hairston Jr. SS
Ryan Freel CF
Jay Bruce RF
Brandon Phillips 2B
Adam Dunn LF
Edwin Encarnacion 3B
Joey Votto 1B
David Ross C
Bronson Arroyo P
v. RH Kyle Kendrick

I have no problem with this lineup...Freel has been getting on base, so he can do just what we want out of our CF, and Bruce in the 3 hole is great so guys in front of him can get on and he can bring them around...
