Reds Tidbits (2008 season)

I was also impressed with the way Harriston Jr went about being a leadoff hitter. He seems to have a knack for it. If we could find the guy who will work a count, take pitches, foul them off and take a walk when its there we will have found an important missing piece(at least offensively-not sure where you play him full time on D).

I honestly believe that Janish could be that type of player and he brings very good D at SS...Then you would have Hairston and Keppinger that could fill the utility role of playing any position on the field...Whenever someone needed a day off...

When he comes to bat they should blare "Born in the USA" over the speakers. Ooh, that gave me a chill. Anybody going out tomorrow buying Jay Bruce rookie cards?

Watched the debut last night. Clearly heard his 7th inning introduction when he doubled in a run was ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down"

Don't bring me down ... Bruce!

Good game by the Reds, thank God they got by the Pirates, sick of losing to them. Dunner with the bomb and an opposite field single, and the Boss makes an awesome debut.

It is amazing what a little enthusiasm can do to make a team look pretty good one day, when they looked pitiful just a few days prior, though they were playing damn good ball before their west coast swoon.

From everything I have heard of Jay Bruce, he has a level head on his shoulders that will help him stay in the moment and not let last nights perfect night put too much pressure on himself to be this teams savior. If that made no sense, what I'm trying to say is I hope he doesn't put too much pressure on himself, and continues to just be a cog, albeit an important one.

It feels a little bit better still without Corey Patterson. He got busted down to AAA today, and Andy Phillips was called up to take his spot.

With the money he's making, Patterson should buy the Bats a new bus or something, a la Michael Jordan in Birmingham.

I think its safe to say Walt is done fucking around.

Bruce up, Patterson down....best 2 moves since they cut Castro and fired Krivsky in the same week.

Some dumbass female called in to talk to Tracy Jones today, complaining about Jay Bruce. Why, you might ask?

In her own words: "I drove down all the way from Lebanon to see Jay Bruce swing the bat, and his first at-bat, he never even took it off his shoulder. If he's as good as everybody says he is, where's the homeruns? I sat in section 415 and all of us were booing him and the whole crowd was booing him..."

If you happen to know this girl, you may wanna keep that to yourself :tongue2:

I hope this was a joke.

Every time up it was a standing ovation and the crowd saying Bruuuuuucccce! Thats why there are no women in baseball and you leave em at home when you go to the game!

Same lineup and batting order as last night, except Ross is in for Bako with a LHP on the mound for Pittsburgh.

I was about to say that I wouldn't mind seeing Freel in the OF and Griffey on the bench today facing a lefty. I guess Griffey went 2-4 against Gorzelanny last year though, so maybe he can do something tonight.
