Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

to score 4 or more on any day he pitches.

My vote is for "Or more" at this point. Is being hit as hard as it looks like on Yahoo! tracker?

"Double to deep left center" "Double to deep center" - looks like he's getting pounded now. Swell.

Santos on in relief. 5-2/3 innings too late fellas.

Started to around the 4th. He'd have given up two more HRs if it had been warmer and the ball was carrying.

He's not pitching, he's throwing. No command on the breaking ball and hitters can sit on the fastball. A 55mph changeup is his only out pitch.

Way to go Griff. Now the bottom third needs to pick us up. Runner on, nobody out, perfect chance to keep this inning going!

Like you Katt, I am watching the game on stat tracker. I appreciate your insight Dryden.

Edit: Castro just drove Griff in with 2 out. Nice job by the bench although it cost us 2 PH to do so. One more run and it is a battle of the pens, where I really like our chances.

They put Burton on the 15 day DL to make room for Milton.

They are lying but its a smart move.
So you're not buying the old "tweaked his ankle/hamstring when he stepped on a sprinkler head while jogging in the outfield yesterday" line?

So ... I'm checking box scores, looking at the standings, the RS/RA for teams, and reading some clippings on the Diamondbacks when I realize the D-Backs are 5-2, with 36(!) Runs Scored, yet 27 Runs Against. Then I realize they just swept a four game series with the Nats, so I check the Nats (1-6), and they're at 18RS versus 45RA (!) after just one week.

This is a team that finished .500 just two years ago. Then Jim Bowden took over.

You know the signs of a Jim Bowden team? Its when five days worth of sports page headlines progress in a sequence such as this (Washington Times/Post headlines, as compiled by the ESPNLocal Service):

04/02 To Nationals, new season looks sunny
04/02 Dire Predictions Wrong, Nats Say
04/03 What else can go wrong?
04/03 Nats battered and bruised in opener
04/03 When winning isn't everything
04/04 Nats stumble, then fall again
04/04 With Two Injured, Lineup Is in Flux
04/06 Starting pitchers struggle for Nats

:slappy:

God. I feel sorry for Washington fans.

Am I the only one that thinks Santos would be a better option to start for us than Milton? Santos has expierence has he has started in the past and done quite well. I think we should give Santos a shot. He has been doing well out of the bullpen.

Maybe, but at this point we don't have a lefty in our starting rotation, and I thought that Livingston threw well in spring trainging and I really like Santos out of the pen...

Milton and Jerry together are a lethal combo. Everyone knows the stats regarding Miltons ever increasing hitability per times through the order. Jerry always leaves him in one inning to long. Its just absurd. 5 IP and only 3 Runs was all you can ask but numbnuts had to go for 6 and of course lets Milton hit for himself, giving up an out in the process.

Its hard to dislike a manager more than I dislike Jerry F Narron.

This upcoming series will be interesting. We always get killed out there, great place and time to show we really are a different team in '07...or not.

Nail... head. If Milton gives you 5, take it and run. Didn't get to see the game today, but caught the highlights. Gave a big WTF when I saw Coot pitching. The Burton DL move reeks of BS, but again they find a way to delay the inevitable. I know things went well the first few days, but I'm far from convinced that this pitching staff is going to be able to keep it up. As I've said the past few years, talk to me on Labor Day and I'll let you know if I'm excited.

Hey I'm glad they're coming out here to Phoenix. I'll finally get to see a game and the freezing ass weather will leave our boys alone a while. Lets see how they do out here. If they leave the bats in Cincinnati they're in trouble.

Quality opening line by Hal McCoy (always love reading Hal in the DDN)

In a popularity contest among fans, Eric Milton's approval rating would be lower than President George W. Bush and slightly above Charles Manson.
..................

McCoy missed the boat there. Manson had a group of devoted followers. I'm certain he can't say the same for Milty.
