Saarloos has some wicked movement. Nice performances by Belisle and Conine tonight.

No doubt. Look at this stat from our bullpen this seasonX Buckeyes07 X;806095; said:Saarloos has some wicked movement. Nice performances by Belisle and Conine tonight.
I'm cautiously optimistic with this start, as I have been with the Reds for the past ... oh ... three years.WhoDeyForever;806094; said:I know it is early in the season but this Reds team is looking good. Our starting pitching is looking well. Although we will have to see about Milton.
Our bullpen has been lights out. Conine came up big today.

-Everything is coming up roses but Uncle Milty will be along to provide a reality check on Sunday it appears.
-So far the pitching looks great, but its only 4 games and its in ice cold weather. Lets see how we are looking come August.
-If Votto keeps progressing and the Hatte/Conine due can put up some numbers they could fetch a nice return at the trade deadline.

The Reds are two or three injuries away from turning a May NL Central lead into a June road trip freefall. Again. Luckily, the NL Central looks abysmal this season, so that may help. The Cards and Astros both appear to have major issues.

Jaxbuck;806304; said:As to depth I agree in part. We have pitching depth better than ever. We are razor thin in position players. I have been saying all along anything happens to EE or Dunn and we are screwed. You could almost add Freel in there due to him being the only leadoff hitter in the entire organization. I am sure Kriv is working on a trade for another OF.
Okinawa's#1Buck;806306; said:Of course that is true. Is there any team who can lose either of their 2 top hitters and not get stung? There is no way we have a bat who can replace either of them. But we are not as dependant on hitters to win us ballgames (or, so is the design) this season. That is why I am not worried about position players as much. Just having guys who are MLB ready like Hopper and Keppinger is fine for this club.
Of course, a trade would help us out there a lot.
Once Hopper is back, he could fill in at leadoff, but I wouldn't want him in there for an extended period of time.
The best-selling book Moneyball opened the eyes of many fans to the statistical revolution in baseball.
This revolution actually predates Moneyball by several decades, but it's become more of a phenomenon of late, thanks in part to the popularity of Michael Lewis' book. It's engendered (silly and petty) hostilities between the stats crowd and the traditionalists, and it's led to a great deal of mutual misunderstanding......

Harang up to 91 pitches in extreme cold weather early in the year. Just completed the 5th innning and is due up 3rd in the bottom of the 5th.
