Elizardo pitched well until he hit a wall last year...Maybe he can get his shit back together...

As for Homer he is going to need another pitch or two b/c he isnt going to be able to just rely on his fastball to get out major league hitters...

I was not that impressed with Elizardo either, but he'll be in the mix this spring. As for Homer, I heard Nuxhall talking about him on the radio and he was raving about his curve. SI has him ranked as the #1 pitching prospect and #3 overall. LINK I think his change up needs some work. Narron is on record as saying that he wants to get him some experience at AAA but will give him the opportunity to win a rotation spot in the spring (before the Saarloos deal of course).

Yeah, but overall pretty solid, especially his 8 inning performance against the Stros...

Anyone have a link to the 40 man roster at the moment...

The reds are trying to sign Everday Eddie to a minor league contract and already did Paul Wilson so they don't count against the 40 man roster...Would be nice if either of those guys could get back to form, especially Paul Wilson and that nice year he had a couple years back...

Rotation:
1. Harang
2. Arroyo
3. Lohse
4. Milton
5. ?

Pen
- Weathers
- Bray
- Stanton
- Coffey
- Majeski

Who are the other guys we have that could man the other spots in our pen and fifth man in the rotation...Overall not a horrible pitching staff especially with improved D.

How about Livingston, the lefty they got from Seattle after the TB/Phily snafoo? He's a likely LH pen guy. Also Cromier, and Shackelford have a chance to win the lefty spot.

IF (here we go with that damn word again) a combo of Lohse/Rameriz/Saarloos/Belile can nail down two rotation spots without rushing Homer to the bigs I don't mind our roster.

The 2 glaring problems, no closer and holding a spot for Hamilton. If we are playing small ball, D first, creating runs, etc, we will need every roster spot for late D subs, pinch runers, etc. I understand the small markets need to gamble on the Willy Mo/Hamilton types, but this year more than ever I think we will need that spot to compete. I wonder if we will keep him if he isn't MLB ready but we are in competition?

I would love nothing more than for Homer to come up and have a Verlander type rookie season, but it just seem like things like that don't happen for the Reds...

Zero chance of that happening. No way does he begin the season with the big club. At best he can be a mid-season call-up/messiah. It would take the Reds to be in a very specfic position (heated playoff chase, no chance of trade/need of starter) to vary the plan they have laid out for his future.

Good to see a Red farmhand as the #1 pitching prospect by anyone's list right now!

Sarloos is indeed a sinker balling groundball specialist but if you look into his peripherals he gets hammered OFTEN. Like most soft tossers, if his sinker 'aint sinking he'll get shelled. I'm afraid GAB will erase the hoped for Al to NL improvement. Hope I'm wrong but this guy is just another stiff for a team that has plenty already.

More of the same shit from Krivsky imo, a whole lot of nothing. I am suprised he made it out of a deal with Beane and just came away with a "whatever" kind of deal. Anyone who gets fleeced by Bowden should avoid Beane like the plauge.
