As someone that played both football and soccer, I love that it's soccer's fault. They are two very different sports that challenge a person in completely different ways. I would never try to act like soccer is a more violent hard hitting game but it does require far more endurance. If you don't think there is contact in soccer or that you can get injured go out and rip through a defense from the attacking midfield spot for a while and tell me how it feels when some bastard slide tackles you with his studs into your knee or thigh to try to take you out. Or go up for a 50/50 ball and throw all you momentum into it and have your head collide with another player going after the ball. These rules would be like making it so that the first person that jumped for a 50/50 ball had the right of way and no one was permitted to challenge after they jumped.

Ok, my defense of soccer is over you may now go back to blaming it for ruining everything America holds dear.

 Typical soccer bullshit. There's as much contact in basketball as soccer...both of which are contact sports. Football, otoh, is a collision sport.

I have been informed by Mr. Goodell that all the posts in this thread which are negative towards the NFL have resulted in 15 yard penalties for your favorite teams. The yardage will be enforced on the opening kick-offs in the affected games. Will update everyone as to what year as soon as I know.

I was in C deck for a game this year and, after a personal foul call for a late hit on the qb, the girl next to me hollered, "Take the lace off his panties!"

I want to meet this girl. :p

Lockout - Lawsuits

Cleveland Browns fan sues over NFL lockout By THOMAS J. SHEERAN, Associated Press Mar 25, 10:52 am EDT

CLEVELAND (AP)?A Cleveland Browns fan sued the National Football league and its teams over the player lockout, claiming it violated his contract to buy tickets through his personal seat license.
Ken Lanci, a self-made millionaire who ran unsuccessfully last year for the top county government job in Cleveland, filed the lawsuit Thursday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court............(excerpt from Yahoo Sports article)

... Any citizen who is paying taxes supporting NFL demanded stadiums should similarly have breach-of-contract arguments. NFL Owners and Players should now be forced to pay for these stadiums.

I'm not an attorney (although I play one on the internet), but I'm pretty sure you have to show damages in a case like this one. Until the League starts missing games, how is anyone damaged? That fact is, we're not.

Not yet, anyway.

Agreed; until the season starts, no one outside the the NFL is being effected. But, if a single home game does not occur -- then many of us are being taxed and paying for the palatial, stadiums without benefits promised. The NFL cities will not benefit the financial windfalls. The NFL teams will not be following thru on their 'contracts'.

Psssst... hey owners and players... No fans... no money. Got it?

Still don't understand? See baseball.

And don't fucking hide behind the "we've got a better product than baseball" bullshit... just take a look at the rule changes that have gone through this year... you're getting close... don't fuck it up for yourselves.
