We have fake one because of allergies. We used to go and cut down our own tree year after year. But I kept getting sick every Holiday season. Went to the doc and lo and behold I am allergic to the trees. Since then we have had a fake one.

may have waited too long to fetch one this year... only could get a 12 footer.. (they called it 14 footer because the top branch sticks out so far) .. but its gotta be 10 feet across... and very full... one heavy ass tree...

for you fellas with allergies... frazier firs usually are OK... plus they're a very good tree.. good firm limbs... retain their needles well... and have a dual color to them (the bottom vs the top of the branches)...

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas... we got our first snow yesterday.. and another 6 inches is forecast for tonight...

I bought a fake one 2 years ago. Right after the real one we had broke the P.O.S. stand and fell over leaving a big brown stain in our carpet. I dang-near threw my tree away 2 days before Christmas!

Real. Always real. Fake trees suck. The only excuse for a fake tree is allergies.

I'm with NJ-Buckeye and BuckinMich on this one, the bigger the better. We always get a Canaan Fir, but the selection was a little limited, so we only ended up with about a 13 footer, which pisses me off. That's the shortest tree we've had in years. Plus, once I got it home last night, all the damn ice was melting and falling off all over the place, and I had to take a bath in turpentine to get rid of all the sap...stupid useless gloves. I really don't understand why people don't get real trees...

For everyone that does do real, I strongly suggest the treestand that you can adjust. It's basically a boot that you screw onto the trunk, then put the boot into the stand. There is a little footpeg that you step on to straighten the tree, then release that peg and it locks into place. It is easy as pie to get (and keep) the tree straight. Go here to see what I'm talking about.

this tree is going to be a disaster getting it out of the house...
coming in... it was still in that webbing from the tree farm...
a tree bag is worthless... have never had a tree this wide... huge...

anyone got some tricks so there's not a 3 inch thick trail of needles...
plus scraped walls... how in the heck am I going to get it thru a door?
argh...

Saw the tree into pieces in the house and then haul it out.

Sounds like you already have a mess to clean up anyways.

Or you can just set the house on fire to burn it up and collect the insurance money.
