yeah, it's certainly not earth-shattering that mccall was expected all along to be a samuel-type player, but at least meyer appears to be confirming it.Yeah, that's how I always viewed him. And why I'd still love to see 2 true RB's taken this recruiting cycle. Becuase if he's a hybrid then the stable is pretty bare for true RB's. Not that he can't take hand off's at 200 lbs but the real power of the position is when lined up with a power back, etc. as needed. Hard for a defense to scheme for that.
in regards to having a set of "conventional" backs, the need for size will especially be the case if barrett departs and burrow takes over next season. even haskins is more of a pro-style quarterback. samuel's abilities are exploited with a smart, mobile quarterback who's proficient with the read-option, which is not to say, however, that mccall wouldn't shine with a traditional quarterback taking snaps.
