RB/WR Curtis Samuel (Buffalo Bills)

I could see Samuel being a Darren Sproles type RB in the NFL.

He's more physical so he can handle more of a workload between the tackles.....could be a poor mans Jamaal Charles type player. But his early PT is going to come on passing downs as a pass catching receiver for sure.....

Chris Johnson also made a helluva career for himself when no one thought he could take the beating between the tackles.

I don't see a team drafting Curtis with the intention of making him a pure slot receiver though. He has the fast twitch movement but his route running lacks and his hands are average at best.....he let a lot of balls get through them and it still doesn't look natural when he has to reach on them.

Reading through this and noting all comments about Samuel "despite the offense" - many of which mirror my own thoughts - seems to me that the man most on the spot next September will be Kevin Wilson. Every one of us seems to anticipate a sudden rebirth of explosive offense next season.

I agree. While Samuel's statistics were in the historical category (relative to the brand standard, Percy Harvin, and for much of the season it looked like all-time), I think the difference in the 2017 offense will make McCall comparable. It's a shame that we didn't get to see Samuel or Braxton in the offense that I hope is coming.

Eh...I have a hard time seeing McCall/Dobbins/whoever approaching Samuel's productivity. He was a special player this year, in an offense that had frustrating fits and starts. Now, with an improved scheme next year, the H-back might not have to be Samuel. But damn it would've been nice to have Curtis for another year. Maybe more so than any other departure.

I had a hard time thinking Hooker could approach the production of Bell/Powell..I am confident we have a viable plan to replace Samuel. Weber wasn't the beast but he was good enough.

Means Weber can be the bell cow for a while like I was hoping he would last year. Spread to Run offense.

McCall takes over the HB duties and occasional in the backfield while Dobbins comes along. Should be fine, barring injury.

Not to open any wounds, but for me, 2014 will always be the year we force-fed Braxton (which I'll always believe was the right thing to do from a program perspective) at the expense of touches and PT for Curtis.

Zeke at RB with Curtis as the pivot would've been deadly.....just filthy. But the time they spent on the field together just wasn't meant to be. I still salivate though....

Best of luck to Curtis in the league. Was really hoping to see him come back and particularly after Brown leaving, this stings (although this one does way more than Brown). Anyways, hope he finds success at the next level.
