RB TreVeyon Henderson (Official Thread)

Given the small sample size, Henderson is the best overall Ohio State running back I have seen. Better than Dobbins, better than Elliott, Wells, MoC, and/or George. It may not turn out that way, but I’m thinking it will. Speed, instinct, all the right angles, size, it.

Tre is averaging 9.1 yards per carry and 29 yards per reception. I remember thinking if only JK had Zeke’s speed...well...here we are

Yeah, the sample size is way too small to make any definitive statements of who he will be better than, etc.

Against Minnesota: 2 carries, 15 yards, 7.5 average, 1 pass caught for 70 yards
Against Oregon: 12 caries, 54 yards, 4.5 average, 1 pass caught for 12 yards
Against Tulsa: 24 carries, 277 yards, 11.5 average, 1 pass caught for 5 yards

I think he'll be great RB too; he has all the "tools". However, keep in mind that over 80% of his total yardage so far was against one lousy team and he has only caught 3 passes, etc.

Cheese: 220 yards
Alabama: 230 yards
Oregon: 246 yards

Hell, this run (i.e. "85 Yards Through The Heart Of The South") alone could put Zeke in the best 3 games stretch by a running back:

It's a play like "Holy Buckeye" that everyone remembers by the name, was essential for a National Championship, and will always be recognized as one the greatest plays in the history of Ohio State football.

Still gives me chills

Wow! That’s high praise!

I guess if you’re just evaluating how they look, maybe. But Nothing compares to that 3 game stretch by Zeke in 2014. Best season IMO was JK in 2019. Best Freshman season is still MoC.

Obviously Tre has the chance to surpass MoC this year. And I have no doubt he could leave Ohio State as the best to ever do it. But there’s been so really damn good backs come through Columbus.
He's missing those 3 backs tackle braking/pile moving power but he's a frosh give him a year or two under Marrioti and I expect to see the power too

It sure looks as though Ryan Day and staff picked the right guy. First, he’s broken into the starting lineup the quickest. And it’s not as though he’s had no competition at the position. Williams has been great, and Teague has been good. Prior’s sitting in the wings. Henderson has just been better, much, much better. Henderson’s stats are way beyond those of the top competition, Edwards and Shipley.

It’s Henderson’s explosiveness that differentiates him from other backs. Even with limited experience watching him play, I feel my heart leap when he touches the ball. I expect him to go to the house. The excitement that he brings to the game, to the fans, is one very bright spot in what has, so far, been a tough season.
