RB Maurice Wells (Official Thread)

Since Georgia Tech is involved, does anybody think their self-reporting of 17 academically ineligible athletes, including 10 football players over the previous 5 seasons, will impact the decision?

How likely is some sort of scholarship reduction or probation for these violations? 10 football players seems like a pretty serious problem, even though they did self-report the violations.

It seemed to me that they broke the news over the big opening weekend in order for the story to get lost among all the action.

articles make it sound like barely a hand slap would be in order... and especially when they went on to say how well these recruits were doing... some graduated... other graduations coming up... and all but one on pace to graduate... so it'd be tough for the NCAA... altho who can predict that group...

GA relatives always gave me the impression GT has integrity...

USC website shows him being pursued but not with much addl hype or commentary... The ties to GT are three-fold - close to Jacksonville/family, Sandalwood alums and now Sapp... and he frequently mentions family ties to Columbus... so Tressel needs to walk him over to Archie Griffin's office and let him sit between the dual Heismans.. then hand him a list reminding him of his personal offensive line for the next four years: Boone, Bemoll, Cordle and a player to be named later.. then ask him "Whaddaya think Mo? Sounds pretty good, eh?"
