right cuz all journalists show the whole story and can be taken for their word at all times :roll1: :roll1:

Yeah, I'm sure Clarett was a perfect angel during the interview and somewhere during the following 5 months he turned into an out-of-control monster. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. :roll1: :roll1: :roll1:

Scott Peterson wishes he had you on his jury "well, just because he was caught near the Mexico border with his newly dyed hair and thousands of dollars doesn't mean he was guilty and trying to flee the country"

Yeah, and ESPN photographers just happened to be in the area when Clarett spontaneously decided to trot out to midfield and toss his jersey. Fucking goofus...

Yup, one last hurrah before he sees himself fall off of NFL draft boards altogether, especially once he shows up at NFL combines this winter still out of shape and likely 15-20 pounds overweight.

Should've ... been a brilliant career.
Would've ... still left this year with 4,000+ career yards (ahead of Eddie and behind only Archie).
Could've ... been a Top-5 draft pick, a Heisman finalist, and the catalyst of back-to-back national championships.

I hope whatever he begged, borrowed and stole was worth it, cause he could've had all of Ohio eating out of his hand for the rest of his life if he'd had his head on straight - that's the most tragic thing he lost. He would've achieved "Archie" status. Hell, Mo C would've made more in commercial endorsements and speaking fees around central Ohio than he would have ever seen with top pick NFL money and a decent career.
so very true. very well said man.

what a true attention whore (talking about clarett, not tibor)... i think this is simply his way of saying "hey, don't forget that i'm eligible for the draft too" covered with a thin veil of "see? i'm looking out for people other than me"...

Has anyone considered the possibilty that in the infamous MoC throwing the OSU jersey away picture that someone was actually tossing him the jersey to put on? I know that is very unlikey the intent or action represented in the photo but looking at the photo it is still plausible.

Here's the article - to reduce ESPN's hits.

edit - I mean online "hit counts" - I'm not trying to stop those of you who want to 'hit' ESPiN in any other way

CLEVELAND -- Payments for a cell phone used by former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett might have led to the suspension of quarterback Troy Smith.

A report Tuesday in The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer said sources close to Ohio State and Smith told the paper that Smith used the money from Springfield booster Robert Baker to pay an overdue bill for a phone Smith's mother obtained for Clarett, a friend of her son's.

Smith; his mother, Tracy Smith; Clarett; and Baker could not be reached for comment. Clarett's mother, Michelle Clarett, said she knows nothing about the matter.

Smith missed the Alamo Bowl because of a disciplinary suspension. Ohio State didn't specify what improper benefits Smith might have received.

On Monday, outgoing OSU athletic director Andy Geiger expressed regret that Smith hadn't involved the school when Clarett's phone bill came due and repeated that Smith's suspension likely will include the 2005 opener against Miami (Ohio), according to the Plain Dealer.

Geiger cited federal student privacy laws in declining to comment on specifics of the phone scenario, the newspaper reported.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Clarett Backs out Again

Clarett backs out:

Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett withdrew Sunday from a skills competition for top NFL draft prospects scheduled to be held today because he did not want to risk injury so close to the NFL scouting combine, the event's organizer and one of Clarett's new agents said.

"We're disappointed," Dan Jones, vice president of events for Intersport, said through spokesman Matt Carstens. Clarett "had made a commitment and he pulled out at the last minute."

Steve Feldman, who said he and David Kenner would represent Clarett, said Sunday night: "We're sorry he's not going to participate. He just retained us, and he (withdrew) on my advice. We're three weeks from the combine. ... At this time, it seems risky to me."

The combine begins Feb. 23 in Indianapolis, and Feldman said Clarett would be there.

South Carolina wide receiver Troy Williamson has replaced Clarett in the Capital One College Football Challenge, which is being taped at Dolphins Stadium and is scheduled to air Saturday on Fox.

*shrug* can't say as i blame him. sitting on your ass for 2 years drinking beer and watching tv... trying to run with guys who have actually been playing ball for the last 4 years is a definite risk. he's likely to pull a muscle just sprinting onto the field!
