RB Marcus Crowley (Official Thread)

I was gonna say something similar. This isn't to take anything away from MTIII, as I love his work ethic and his game, but don't sleep on Crowley. I thought he was ridiculously under-rated in his class.
I agree about Crowley and I liked the little bit we saw from Steele, as well. My guess is that they all get decent reps in the first few games and that if he doesn't lay the ball on the ground Teague then gets the start. I've said forever, though, that I'd love to see a real rotation in the backfield like we do with the receivers and DL. These three are similar enough that I think it would be a good time to try that.

Dude did he tear his ACL? For the life of me I can’t remember which media outlet suggested it, but they said a player — also can’t remmeber who — “got injuries at the same time Crowley tore his ACL.”

I’d never want to spread misinformation about a player but I’m almost positive I heard it and I know it’s difficult to get specifics from the program.

“I think [Crowley and Steele Chambers] are going to be really good players here,” Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford said last season. “They’re hungry to learn, they’re getting better … and they’re learning what college football is all about. Just the attention to detail that’s necessary every single day — and not for just certain spurts within the day, but all day. How important it is to take care of your body and to study the game away from the field.”

Crowley was receiving more carries in blowouts before his injury. He suffered a season-ending knee injury against Maryland, and Chambers stepped in to fulfill Crowley’s duties. Crowley looked confident carrying the ball against the Terrapins, and Chambers looked the part the next week at Rutgers.

So when Crowley is cleared and returns, the competition for a leg-up between the two running backs from the 2019 recruiting class will heat up and begin to take shape.

The main question surrounding Crowley’s ability to help the Buckeyes – and the depth of his contributions – centered on his health. Unfortunately for the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder, that question remains unanswered as his team nears the Oct. 24 start of the season.

“We did have a minor setback with him, but he's coming back strong now,” running backs coach Tony Alford said on Tuesday.

Crowley suffered a torn ACL late in a November beatdown of Maryland that prematurely ended the tailback’s freshman season. The Buckeyes quickly put together a long-term recovery plan in hopes that he wouldn’t miss any action. On March 2, head coach Ryan Day said he anticipated Crowley being ready for Ohio State’s then-scheduled first game on Aug. 31. Once Teague went down with an Achilles injury, Alford expected Crowley to get healthy before his tailback counterpart.

Wow. Well ok then.

This dude has been totally absent from my thoughts this season.

Obviously any notion that he could play a role this year is probably remote but I’m just glad to see that he’s actually available which means that he’s going to be practicing, etc. For some reason I thought he was still in rehab.
