If true, would be a shame. I'm hoping this is still a rumor, or has it been confirmed?
matcar;1721058; said:I hear what you're saying but honestly, if JERMIL thinks the writing is on the wall regarding his playing time, then it would seem probable that he won't get a lot of touches. I hope for the best for Jermil whether at tOSU or elsewhere.
Tressel and the Buckeyes are hoping for the same from Martin, a redshirt sophomore from Cleveland Glenville, who is still finishing up a class at Ohio State from spring quarter.
?I haven?t been in a situation to talk to him the last couple weeks. When I took off for some vacation time he was still working on a class from spring term,? Dick Tressel said.
?He had an incomplete that he had to complete and I think a lot of the determination of his status sort of hinged on that. I don?t know that he has done that, I think he had seven weeks from the end of the quarter to get that straightened out. To be honest it?s something I ought to check on, check in with (director of player development) Stan Jefferson.?

Martin's case sounds more iffy. Tressel acknowledged that there may be some truth to earlier rumors that Martin was considering a transfer.
But a player cannot transfer to another NCAA school if he is academically ineligible, so it's a moot point unless Martin successfully completes his summer-school work.
"I can't say (the transfer issue) has gone away; I'm sure he's still thinking about it," Tressel said. "He's had so many struggles along the way, and health issues. We know he's a good, strong inside runner, but he hasn't been in a position where he's been able to expand that role, and everyone wants their role to be as broad as it can be."
?Jermil Martin hasn?t been working out with us so he wouldn?t be reporting,? Tressel said of the redshirt sophomore tailback.
That could mean the end of Martin?s Ohio State career, which would make him the third academic casualty for the Buckeyes this off-season (wide receiver Duron Carter and defensive end Keith Wells being the other two).
"Jermil is a little bit caught in between being a fullback and a tailback," Tressel said, ``and we've got a pretty good group both places, so that makes it more difficult."
Tressel said he understood why players transfer in search of more playing time.
"Oh absolutely, it's real," he said. "And I always ask guys this: Only you can assign the importance of things. What's most important to you _ being at Ohio State, graduating from Ohio State, or having a chance to play? Neither is bad. If you tell me having a chance to play, I understand."
