RB JaJa Riley - transfer to UNLV (official thread)

I have a football signed only by MoC, JaJa Riley, Lydell and Mo Hall...got them to sign it the spring media day before their NC season.

At the time I had a true Fresh., Red Shirt Fresh., and two Soph. RBs as the only scholarship tailbacks on a NC team and thought I had one of the most significant pieces of tOSU football memorabillia (in the making) in a long, long time. Though I had much higher (maybe unrealistically on my part) expectations of this group statistically I can't complain about the results as far as wins, victorys over scUM, bowl games, etc. goes.

It wouldn't sell for much on e-bay, but it remains on my "shrine" shelf and one of my favorite things.

Glad you're still sporting your jersey with pride, Jaja...Go Bucks!

Trust me bro, I feel the same way. In 2001 I was in the hosptial with a bacterial infection in my lungs as well as a ruptured apendix and my Grandma went to the signing day (they had it that year in City Center) and got ALL of the players signatures. Even though it had players on the team I would care to cut off or scratch out, I refuse to sell it. I have gotten offers up to $1500 (because it had the likes of Krenzel, Doss, Bentley, Wells, Jenkins, etc.). But now I feel the players that have gotten in trouble and brought down the schools name a bit are being overshadowed on the football. As it stands currently next to my 2005 signatured football (from their last signing), I prolly love it even more.

But, all I am saying is that JaJa - you are a better man for continuing to support a fine program that gave you a chance at a promising life. Always nice to see a kid become a man, admitting his mistakes and moving on.

PS. Will somebody PLEASE done the number 13 so I can wear it again!!!! lmao, c'mon Chris Wells, you will make us all forget about Clarett.

Riley was a heralded recruit from San Diego area. Tress let him go gently into the night. Since Henderson is just an extension of LV, perhaps the lad is working and continuing school at unlv? Always thought he was a good kid, and got caught in a crack at OSU.

My how the time flys. Have we been that far away from the days of Bucknuts? Before BP came into existence we were all in BN and talking about JaJa and wondering if this Young lad from the SanDiego area could light up the "Shoe" along with MoC. But when the limelight was on Clarett,we kind of figured JaJa was going to transfer to UNLV. I know i wished him well and always wondered about his whereabouts after that. Seeds thread was nice read about JaJa. Thanks Seed for the heads-up.

He was listed on the UNLV Roster for 2005 and played in 6 games in 2005. Also read that he had a lot of problems with injuries going into the 2005 season. Hopefully he is finishing his degree. Glad to hear he is doing well.

He played well for the Bucks and showed some moments of real talent. I have always wondered how he was fairing and if he regretted his descision. Thanks for sharing. I hope he gets his degree and does well in life.

Always always root for the kid.
