SKULL SESSION: J.K. DOBBINS OVERCOMES ADVERSITY, GENE SMITH TALKS IMAGE AND LIKENESS BILL, AND JUSTIN FIELDS HAD A TOUGH ADJUSTMENT TO OHIO STATE

GO GET IT, COME BACK WITH IT.
I've been a massive J.K. Dobbins fan since well before he even stepped foot on Ohio State's campus (ironically, he was also a Buckeye commit long before he even stepped foot on Ohio State's campus), but I had no idea what he and his family went through in their personal lives.

Folks, he's a battler.

I love that his mom didn't even know he was going to start, then he went ahead and rattled off 205 all-purpose yards in his first collegiate football game.

Shoutout to Dobbins for all he's overcome to get to this point. He's earned it all and absolutely worked his ass off. You certainly don't get this far by accident.

NEBRASKA NOTEBOOK: JEFF OKUDAH MAKES TWO INTERCEPTIONS, BARON BROWNING HAS CAREER GAME, JOSHUA ALABI FILLS IN AT RIGHT TACKLE AND J.K. DOBBINS CLIMBS OHIO STATE'S ALL-TIME RUSHING LIST

USATSI_13433717.jpg

DOBBINS CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOKS
Going into Saturday night’s game against Nebraska, J.K. Dobbins ranked as Ohio State’s 14th-leading rusher of all-time. By the end of Saturday night’s game, Dobbins had moved all the way up to 10th.

In rushing for 177 yards against the Cornhuskers, Dobbins has now rushed for 3,110 yards in his Ohio State career, passing Antonio Pittman (2,945), Michael Wiley (2,951), Carlos Snow (2,999) and Pepe Pearson (3,076) along the way.

For the season as a whole, Dobbins has now rushed 654 yards – only 399 yards less than he had all of last season – in just five games.

Coming into the season, Dobbins was motivated to perform better after deeming his performance last year, when he averaged just 4.6 yards per carry, as a “failure.” So far this season, Dobbins has performed much better – rushing for 7.1 yards per carry – but he isn’t satisfied yet.

“I’m playing a lot better than last year,” Dobbins said. “I got some things I can work on for sure. I can be way better. So I’m just going to keep getting better and better, try to work harder to get better.”

INSIDE THE BOX: OHIO STATE SPREADS THE WEALTH, J.K. IS A 3,000 YARD RUSHER, AND THE LINEBACKERS ARE ON THE ATTACK

DOBBINS IS ONE OF THE BEST TO EVER DO IT

Junior tailback J.K. Dobbins broke 3,000 career rushing yards against Nebraska, becoming the 11th Buckeye to ever do so. Barring injury, he will likely end his career as one of the four most prolific running backs in program history.

Dobbins is just 658 yards away from Eddie George's mark of 3768 career rushing yards, which is the third-best rushing career in Ohio State history. At his current pace, he will surpass that total against Penn State in mid-November and would pass Zeke (3961 career rushing yards) against Michigan.

While Dobbins will never win a Heisman like some of his counterparts, he has a chance to end his career with the second-best rushing average of all time. He currently sits at a career average of 6.03 yards per carry, good for fourth-best among Ohio State ball carriers with over 2,000 rushing yards. Ezekiel Elliot (6.69 yards per carry), Carlos Hyde (6.11 yards per carry), and Archie Griffin (6.04 yards per carry) are the only Buckeyes above him.

Dobbins' average yards per carry this season of 7.10 is raising his career average each and every week. If he can maintain this average over his next 46 carries, he would become the second most efficient ball carrier in program history.

The running back's struggles last season made many (including myself) that he was a one-year wonder. Dobbins has certainly roared back should be in the conversation as one of the best backs in the nation and one of the best in the history of Ohio State football.

and
Dobbins' average yards per carry this season of 7.10 is raising his career average each and every week.

And Eddie did it in 4 years; however, he really didn't get many carries his first 2 years: Eddie's senior year when he won the Heisman he averaged 5.9 yards per carry.

Dobbins is on pace for 1962 and 15 TDS in 12 games. Tack on B1G Championship Game he’s over 2000.
In comparison; Taylor (who’s on a lot of people’s Heisman lists) is on pace for 1677 and 18 in 12 games...
Dobbins averages 7.1 ypc to 6.7 for Taylor.

And Dobbins is doing it with a top 4 rated passer that can also run the ball.

That pace for Dobbins isn't accurate - Dobbins has played in 5 games, Taylor in 4.

JK is averaging 130.8 per game, JT is averaging 139.75 per game.
