RB Ezekiel Elliott (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Pro Bowl, All Pro, Dallas Cowboys)

The ESPiN Film Room was worth a watch. Lots of praise for Darren Lee.
How bad were Oregon's linebackers and defense if they couldn't even adjust to one play ran over and over?
When I saw what FSU's weak running game did to them, I had a lot of confidence Zeke would move the ball up and down the field on them.
Also Zeke ran the ball well against the #1 ranked defense in the country being Alabama.
I just thought Oregon would score more.

Not much has changed. So Bosa wants to gather and destroy blue things and EZE likes to show off his abs.

I'm just hoping the 2nd and 3rd string RBs step up their game so Elliot doesn't have to carry the ball 36 times a game (over a possible 13 - 15 game season) in 2015. I know is a tough player and undoubtedly wants to "carry the rock" on every play, but that with his blocking would just be a lot of hits to his body. We definitely need him to stay healthy and injury free all season.

Don't think this is as big an issue, for two reasons.

1. If we don't go -4 on turnover margin, Elliott's probably on the sideline for the entire 4th quarter, watching the backup Buckeyes trying to get to 70. I hope that we won't have as many self-inflicted wounds each game in 2015 as we did in the NC game.
2. The 2015 regular season schedule has a lot of teams that don't look to be as good as 2014 Oregon. @VT, Hawaii, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, @Indiana, Maryland, PSU, @Rutgers, Minny, @illinois, MSU, and @Michigan. Unlikely we'll need him 36 times each game next season.

Honestly, the front 7 was the best Oregon has had and they were actually a physical bunch this year. Even against FSU they got after it. But gradually we just kept beating the shit out of them every play and outwilled them over 4 quarters. They could scheme all they wanted to stop that counter, but our pulling OL just punched them straight in the mouth every time and wore them down. And Zeke is much like Hyde in the sense that he gets stronger with each carry, only he tends to break a few big ones later on, in addition to grinding out the tough 6-7 yard carries in between.

I don't know why this all of the sudden dawned on me but all the QB controversy may culminate in a competition to hand the ball to Zeke and watch the OL have their way with opposing defenses. Obviously we aren't going to abandon the pass but push come shove, we already have proven time and time again that Zeke can carry the load.

I don't know if it will be quite that drastic. UFM has stated constantly that he wants a 1:1 balance in yards between running and passing.

Although with the H-backs, RBs and TEs this team has, it would be killer in the triple option if it came to that....

I don't think you keep Samuel on the bench. As much as I'd like EzE to win the Heisman and a numbe of awards, I'd rather see him fresh and run for another 200+yds in the B1G championship game, CFB Sem final and NC. I wouldn't like us to depend solely on EzE to run, though we know he can dominate, but I rather him be fresh throughout the season.

Heisman winning RB's have had plenty of success with talented backups.

Bush and Ingram to name two recent ones.

Unreal to think of what all this kid has done for the program. I remember thinking we might be ok without him a couple NLOID's ago. But now, the kid who almost stayed home at Mizzou is primed for a Heisman run in Columbus, makes me laugh more than any Buckeye I can remember (a very endearing trait), and is also recruiting his tail off for us in the little spare time he has. UFM said straight up that we do not get Michael Weber without EzE, who Weber called "his brother"...that is unreal. Everyone be very appreciative of this young man and enjoy the show as much as you can next year. Great student athlete that is obviously a great young man. True Buckeye that will be forever in the greats here.

On that note, off to aliexpress to get my Elliott jersey as well...

Urban mentioned in his signing day presser that Stan Drayton had Curtis Samuel start in front of Zeke for a game midway through the year because Zeke missed a couple of classes. Thought that was interesting, because there was no mention of why it was done when it was done, but now we know. I'm sure that was a source of motivation on and off the field for him.

So we won with our 3rd string QB and 2nd string RB? We're awesome.
