Urban Meyer said during his Monday presser that while he wished Elliott would've come to him privately (where his comments would be 100 percent acceptable), the talented running back would face no discipline heading into Ohio State's showdown with Michigan.

That didn't stop Elliott from tweeting a heartfelt apology to Buckeye Nation for his action:

I am sorry for all those offended by the statements made by me Saturday after OUR loss. My intentions were not to point fingers at anyone for OUR failure.

I hope everyone can understand how strongly I love this team and this university and how much I wanted to win that game but I do not regret anything I said. I have given nothing but blood, sweat and tears for this university and team ever since I stepped on campus in Columbus and have always put the team before myself.

I don't care if I rushed for 20 yards or 200 yards but I just want to win that game. I agree that it was the wrong time and place to say that I was going to leave after this year. But I am not leaving after this season because we lost that game. I could have told you a month ago that that was going to be my last game in the Shoe as you can see I was very emotional before the game.

Finally, I just want Buckeye Nation to know I am sorry for all controversy and unrest I caused in the past couple of days. But I promise you all will get a focused and prepared team this Saturday when we travel to Ann Arbor.

After Ezekiel Elliott's career at Ohio State, it's safe to say he's earned a mulligan. Add a win over Michigan into a mix, and this media brouhaha will become a forgotten memory entirely.

Well, I was joking around. Not so much now. Unfortunately, not everyone's account appears to offer that function.

Given the amount of actual shit I have to wade through in my own real life right now, I will desist from embroiling myself further in you guys' Hatfield & McCoy reenactment.

I doubt anyone here actually thought this effected his draft stock, since you don't need hot takes to get clicks and/or you're not pompous buffoons. Mostly the former I'm sure, but either way:

Scout No. 1:
Did you see him in tears before the game? That's passion. I wish all of the players on our team had his passion and character. The talking heads who say he's going to fall in the draft are simply living in the moment … just like Elliott did. The next talented player who falls in the draft because of a "too honest" moment after a game will be the first. Honestly, I'm more worried about his leg infection from last week.

Scout No. 2:
Nah, he's fine. I know our GM will drill him about this during Combine meetings. I'm not sure how much he'll care about the comments, but he'll want to hear Elliott's responses.

Scout No. 3:
Look, it was unacceptable. Those who watched that game know he was right. But you just can't say what he did and call out the coaches. He had an immature moment and I know our coaches will have something to say about it. But this is a player who doesn't have a track record of maturity issues or character problems. He comes from a supportive family. He hands the ball to the official after each score. I bet he'll learn from this, apologize and be a better teammate because of it. And as long as he shows that moving forward, it'll just be a small bump in the road that won't slow him down. He's better than the Wisconsin kid [Melvin Gordon] last year. We'll gladly take him.
