RB Eddie George - (1995 Heisman winner, CFB HOF, 4x Pro Bowl, HC Tenn St)

If anyone is around the South Campus Gateway Project, drive on by Eddie's Grille (on the corner of High and Chittenden). They are putting the finishing touches on the outside this week, it looks pretty good. There is two huge pictures of Eddie while playing with tOSU and the Tennesse Titans.

He later played for Tennessee before joining the Dallas Cowboys for one season."We call ourselves a food-first focused sports-themed restaurant," Bob McCarthy, one of George's partners. "Yes, we have a beautiful bar, but our success will be in the quality of dining, with great food, great attitude and great service."Other partners are Howard Shiller and Bob Burness.McCarthy and Shiller worked with George on the Eddie George Sports Grille in Nashville, Tenn. The restaurant closed last year after six years.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
20060320-Pc-E1-0900.jpg

Four days of upsets and close calls have turned the third annual Dispatch NCAA Tournament pool into a battle of attrition.
NFL and former Ohio State running back Eddie George best survived the surprises to lead the field of 10 with 47 points.
George is among only four fearless forecasters with their Final Four still standing.
None of the contestants picked two of the Cinderella teams — Bradley and Wichita State — to reach the Sweet 16, which will begin Thursday.
Dispatch Columnist Joe Blundo, however, correctly pegged underdog George Mason to advance.
Blundo eschewed the science of ‘‘bracketology" to favor teams with interesting names.
Yesterday, hometown sentiment suffered a blow when Georgetown whacked the Buckeyes.
Eight prognosticators had picked Ohio State to win at least two more games.
Refusing to be a ‘‘homer," Grove City High School basketball captain Stephanie Smith nailed the second-round loss.
She remains within striking distance of George — as do car dealer Fred Ricart, bartender Rocky Amicon and Columbus City Councilwoman Maryellen O’Shaughnessy.

Has anyone tried Eddie's Grill? I tried it out last Saturday and watched some bball games. Good restaurant to watch sports but I was honestly disappointed. There is a huge bar that is shaped like a football and a TV in every direction. Beer / food prices are not bad at all but the food was not great. There is a huge picture of Eddie breaking one on ND but other than that the restaurant is very plain. All my buddies have all had the same experience and I was curious if anyone else has tried it out.

I agree. We went there last night. I get the ribs and they were not very good. Very tough. The sauce was not bad. Sweet and spicey. I like it when the meat falls apart with a fork. Not a very good job at making the most of the space in the dining room either.

I went there for a happy hour, but I didn't eat. The TV situation is great--there must be 50 hd plasma or lcd screens in that place. I agree that the restaurant is kind of plain. I think they could improve the place by putting some cool memorabilia in there, such as game used jerseys, shoes, etc. As it stands, there is a small case right when you walk in the door, but it's filled only with mini helmets, stacker dolls, etc.

I agree 100% that they need more memorabilia. Maybe they are going to add more to the restaurant later. Everyone in my party had something wrong with their order or their food was just plain not good. My girl ordered a medium burger and it came out well done and it was just bad. I have had better nachos from the concession stand at the shoe. Another thing they could have improved on was hiring some decent looking girls.

More memorabilia yeah. I don't see what everyones beef with the food is. (or the girls for that matter)

Service was fantastic. maybe i just got the one good waitress there, i dunno. We all thought the food was good for the price. maybe thats just cause we've all been eating campus food for the last half year. Overall i think the reviews are pretty harsh. You all expected the restaurant to be as good as his running ability?

i think 27 is just something for him to buy some time before stepping into coaching. i hope to try 27 before or after the spring game. from what i have heard it is not a bad place, but could improve. hopefully that comes with time!

congrats eddie!
